Terrific results you would not have predicted, just 4 months ago.

We haven't beaten St Mirren or Dundee this season.

First time since Neil Lennon.

Gray will have learned from Lennon the will to win regardless of who we are playing.

We should be beating Hearts more often than not and beating Celtic and Rangers every season.

Hearts are the great pretenders who's raison d'être is hating us. Hibs raison d'être is loving our club and being the best we can against all opposition.

Aye, sir alex ferguson presumably told him don't worry about the other teams. Foh with that nonsense about Lennon. Why doesn't he teach dunfermline that?!?

The four points we've thrown away against kilmarnock will never stop being annoying. If we miss out on third its those two games.

Remember the late great Willie MacFarlane taking us to the top the league with wins over Celtic Rangers and Hearts

A very underrated Manager could spot a player set us up well and had us playing fast attractive football

They are starting games at pace currently. They destroyed Dundee Utd in the first half, scored against Rangers recently and St Mirren yesterday after 2 mins. We just need to be ready for a bit of an early charge from then. Over 90 I think we will win but this looks to be a tough game.

By October 1969, we were at the top after wins at Tynecastle, Parkhead, and Ibrox.

Willie Mac was great; so was the football he had us playing. He brought in Shades, Johnny Graham and Arthur Duncan but, unsurprisingly, struggled to get over the loss of Peter Marinello and especially, Peter Cormack. His big error was replacing Cormack with Jim Blair. But signing Duncan to replace Marinello was genius. It was Tom McNiven who started that run, with the win in Gorgie.

I’d say the first sentence is the least egregious of the three.

Met Shades as a Trialist at Easter Road versus Morton Reserves when he was still with Stirling Albion

Was a total gentleman gave me and my mate Comps and let us run up the tunnel needless to say he got the gig

Dundee are a very good team going forward less so in defence though Shaugnessy has improved them recently on his return from injury. Will be a very watchable open game imo. As they showed at Tannadice against Rangers and beating St Mirren they are a dangerous team in good form

He was indeed, hard as they come though.

I remember his debut against Górnik Zabrze. He left everyone wondering what we had there when his tackle followed through on Peter Cormack, seeing the Hibs man get stretchered off. :greengrin

Point taken, but really it's the poor start to the season that's done for us. If we'd had a similar points tally to what we've collected since the Sheep 3-3, we'd be on 70 points right now, even though we only drew away to Killie, St Mirren Ross County and St Johnstone. We seem to like the big games, and are doing really well against the other top 6 sides now. If we can keep up this form, I can see us picking up 10 or 12 points after the split, which should be enough to get us over the line.

The standing Lennon has with some Hibs fans is very strange indeed.

Killie away both lost 90 min goals = 6 points.

Dundee Utd home - red card game and 90tb no goal = 3 points

Dundee Utd away - 2 late goals = 3 points

12 points right there (9 points better off) instead of 3 we got for the x3 draws.

Not taking it for granted but are they really in good form?

2 wins and a draw from 10 games against top flight opposition (and a LOT of goals conceded along the way) doesn’t seem great to me.

For reference, the last games 6 form table is:

Hibs 16
Aberdeen 11
Dundee Utd 10
Celtic 9
Hearts 9
Rangers 9
St.Johnstone 8
Dundee 7
St.Mirren 7
Motherwell 7
Ross County 6
Kilmarnock 4
