Took his goal well and thought he had a good game yesterday . Is he another player worth keeping next season as a squad player ? …

Easy yes for me too

McGrath is out injured at the moment so might need a bit of time getting fully fit or hitting form. Having the option and quality of Hoilett to compete with him is a no brainer for me

Those 2, Rudi and Campbell are 4 very good options for the 10 position for different reasons.

IMO we’d be silly not to give him another year. He is a maestro.

I didn't think we would give Hoilett another contract given he is 35 in 2 months time but he doesn't have chronic injury issues and he has a level of ability of players that we can't afford so I think it is 55/45 he stays now.
His brilliant goal yesterday came when we were struggling to make chances and the game was won from that point.

I reckon it will depend on what Junior himself wants to do. He may not fancy staying any longer in Scotland.

If we get 3rd and he wants to stay on we’d be mad not to.

How do we get anyone else as good?

I thought he was comfortably our best player during our poor start to the season, and I think he dropped out our starting line up when our form really started to take off.

He was always a handy sub during that spell though, and has really come to prominence again as a starter these last few weeks. Another year is a no brainer for me.

Four league goals in 14 starts from him is a decent return. Just looking and we’ve really spread the goals around the squad this season. 15 players have scored a league goal for us, and eleven have scored more than one.

What a difference having a decent ball player in the number 10 position makes. Should have had an excellent assist to his name yesterday too if his cute near post flick on had fallen to a more competent finisher.

It was a harder chance than the shot Bowie hit at the keeper IMO .

Jeez I keep forgetting we have McGrath on a pre-contract! Really good option.

I would also look to extend Hoilett for another year, won’t play every week but can come in like he did yesterday and make an impact. Won’t mind being more of a bit part player at his age either.

Worth a 1 year extension in my eyes. Good player at this level, and seems like a great pro too. Would be a good squad player, even at his age and brilliant for boys like Rudi to learn from.

With him still being a full Canadian internationalist and with Canada being guaranteed to play in the competition, surely another year would be a very smart piece of business?

We get another year of a excellent footballer/experience/great squad option in Junior before he fly's off and bows out on a remarkable playing career after the world cup? Win-Win Imo.

we will need options if we get 3rd / Europe (can believe I'm even typing that after season start :greengrin) even more.

He has quality and knows the Manager / players / Club so the integration that seems to take even some good players several months is already done. If he is happy as impact player / one to open defensive sitting sides / a great role model to youngsters then out of the over 30's towards end of career he is a very low risk no brainer for me.

Anyone know if he is a player that fancies coaching / Managing long term? Might be good option to work with McGregor and get his badges while adding a bit there too if he does?

Hope so that would make complete sense. Absolute quality as Saturdays goal showed.

Absolutely the sort of player and character we want around for next year. Will likely be in and out team. But that’s been how it is for him this season too, and he’s shown his worth. His goals and his movement and clever play is worth its weight.. got to be good for other players in our team to have him around too. Many more pluses than minuses for me.

He could be so important for European football.

I don’t just mean in terms of squad size but if we have a Luzern type fixture the way he plays and his experience would be worth its weight in gold.

I’d love us to keep him if we can and will be quite gutted if he leaves. Would be very hard to replace him.

Pretty sure he was described by someone on here as being a bad signing, not so long ago. Seemed mental at the time, even more so now.

Absolutely superb footballer, who is a joy to watch on the ball. Seems to really be enjoying his football and have plenty left to offer in some capacity.

Fingers crossed he’ll hang around.

There’s a number of Wikipedia scouts on here who judge players without having seen them play who saw he was over 30 and immediately wrote him off.

Really interesting article on the Hibs Oberver breaking down his importance to the team. Really hope we get him signed up for next year as he and McGrath would be great options in that #10 role.

He is class, him and McGrath as number 10s would give us good depth and an improvement on our current options.

You can see even at the age he is now, he was and still has quality.

Just the way he runs, controls the ball and looks to find space.

I know he is not in his prime, but Hoilett possesses the most quality of any team in the SPFL, outside of the OF.

As you say an intelligent player with a lot of experience and would give us another good option along with Campbell and McGrath next season . On another positive note all three are versatile in they can play numerous positions too .

No brainer to give him another year if he wants to hang around.

He won’t play every week or play every minute of the game when he does play, but he’s really shown his class in the last couple of months. Keeping someone with his experience and ability is a must. Players like him who can come in and out next season will be invaluable.

I thought at times were really wasteful.

Levitt in particular gave the ball away really dangerously in the first and second half.

Something they have to work on, panic mode too often in the second half, rather than taking a second and picking a pass....

Right at the end, maybe last minute or two Levitt played two or three brilliant passes under pressure, played it inside to Campbell and followed his pass for the 1-2

Campbell immediately hit it first time with his left foot in behind the St Mirren defence to no one and let them have easy possession again

The way Levitt plays he’ll make mistakes, but I’d much rather a brave player like him who tries and is successful with alot of them as it creates chances

Started out the season as one of our better performing players who you could see had quality still, once we changed our shape, i did feel he maybe struggled at first which lead to a little dip in form but I'm happy he picked it up and has been really good again the past few months and contributing with Goals and Assists.

Has done really well in that 3rd midfielder spot ahead of Levitt and Triantis with some outstanding work rate off the ball to add.

It's a no brainer for me for another year please when it will looks like we will need to be a squad team even more with the potential extra games next season.
