As comfortable a win as we'll get all season. Solid team performance. It would be good to see Rangers getting lots of red cards against Dundee and ideally County to turn up the goods against United.

A county win takes them onto 38 points and within touching distance of top 6.

If Ross county win then the battle for top 6 becomes really interesting, not to mention well lined up to benefit us.

Good performance from hibs today, solid though out and never really gave St Johnstone a sniff. 3 points in the bag. Let's keep going!

Great result, subs on when needed, Bowie was happy with his goal. Dominated the game, but I always had that bloody niggle at 2-0 they might steal a goal. Some great passing up front on show today. Only minus point for me was Miller seemed to slow the game down when he had the ball, maybe it was just my imagination though.

The fight before the split is mental
Us and Aberdeen one point apart have very similar games. Both playing rangers (we’re at Ibrox and Aberdeen at home), we play Dundee at home and Aberdeen away to county
Then Hearts, St Mirren and Motherwell battling for 6th;
Hearts;
United at home
Motherwell away
St Mirren;
Dundee away
County at home
Motherwell;
Kilmarnock away
Hearts at home

Funny how teams like St Johnstone playing ‘good football’ as in our from the back etc and trying to play on the deck makes it much easier for us
Can see why guys like Levein go in defensive, build a big strong team with rapid strikers and counter

Brilliant Hibs, we didn’t get out of second gear today. I didn’t think Bowie was looking too sharp but he shut me up, did well to win the pen and score it, and a lovely wee faint to create the chance just prior.

3 0 my first correct score prediction all season Happy with that Boyle should have scored more but he was acre thorn in thier side
Some lovely interplay passing at times in fist half
Without Nicky Cadden and lot of balls into box were great
But we dominated them first half and start of second
Myko didn’t do enough for me
But really enjoyed the game

Andy Fisher is the guy. On loan from Swansea so a team-mate of Kuharevych.
He's decent, 27 years old and has played 30 games in the English Championship and 62 in EFL 1.

This Hibs team is defying gravity and weight of history.
3rd place, lost our last game, international break, a chasing pack, home game against a bogey team. Any one of these would normally be enough to put the jitters up a Hibs team, but not this one. Huge credit to SDG and all the staff at Hibs for preparing the team and getting that performance out of them.

First half we were impressive and pressed so well. The second half was really a non event although it was entertaining watching the Saints right winger. An angrier player I've yet to see this season. I'm confident that this team has it in them to get third.

I think he’s very good at deciding when to pass it to a defender and when to kick it into the midfield. Hate it when a keeper always takes the same option regardless of the options available to him.

Was in Ladbrokes before the game and a German guy put £600 on Hibs to win. Saw him and his mates in Middletons after and with the winnings he'll be there all night and not spend it all. P.S. I was only there as my mate, who is a Saintees fan, insisted we meet there as we used to drink there regularly in the 90s (which is when I think it was last done up!).

I thought he looked like he struggled to get to grips with the pace of the game a bit, looked (understandably) a wee bit rusty and short of match sharpness.
Still managed to get the odd decent pass away and got the odd tackle in.
Will probably need a full pre season and a few league cup games before we see anything like the best of him. I’d only really expect cameo appearances between now and the end of the season, given we’ve got a few other decent options for that position.

Obita was also unlucky not to get a couple of assists today from excellent crosses

Important win.
Reckon we can get a draw at least at Ibrox.
St J were actually awful. The way they were trying to play out from the back and constantly losing the ball.
Feels they will get relegated but can’t seem them coming back up playing like that in the championship. Of course when it comes off it’s nice to watch but so many turnovers today like the 2nd goal.
Hibs were stronger / faster / fitter / better skilled all over the pitch. Massive credit to the staff and players for getting us top 6 considering where we were and first time in a few years.
Considering we were missing Newell, Cadden N and Youan it’s impressive the way we are winning games.
Myko could have had 3 but he was getting in right areas.
Good crowd too in horrible windy weather.
Really hope this team manages to secure 3rd - they deserve it.

I think we're in a position we can ask a little more or them, and for that hour or so we were 2-0 up they did anno me a bit at how wasteful we were. Saints never obviously looked like scoring, but it felt we'd left ourselves in unnecessary jeopardy because we were - if we're being honest - pretty poor in our link-up around the box.
I'm not sure if we really practice central play all the much given we're mainly about getting it wide, but it's a part of our game we could be much slicker at. While it was only the difference between a win and a cricket score today, there's going to be some tight games between now and the end of the year and we lack many signs of being a really clinical side.
Minor quibble.

I thought it was a typically Myko performance - no shortage of graft and some decent work done from deep whilst being a physical handful for defenders.
Where it really mattered though - in the 6 yard box - I thought he was as poor as normal. One missed sitter, the odd ball flashed across the box that he got nowhere near and the odd good floated ball that he just didn’t seem to be in a position to attack.
This (and Bowie not being much better) was probably the difference between us winning by 3 and running up a cricket score.

Thankfully St Johnstone were awful today so it didn’t matter too much, but we really should’ve had a couple more. We seem to have an issue with putting games to bed and like you say in tighter game it can be the difference between a win/draw/loss.

I thought he was excellent.
Significant contributions at both ends.
Best accolade you could give him is that Nicky Cadden wasn’t missed.
Might have been because he was taking set pieces in the right but he seemed to pop up in quite unexpected positions from time to time.
I much prefer him at WB with Iredale at LCB than on the left of a back 4.

Bit unfair on Bowie. Tucked the penalty away with ease and unlucky with his shot that the keeper did well to save. Myko offered nowt and his chance was a sitter.

Might have been because he was taking set pieces in the right but he seemed to pop up in quite unexpected positions from time to time.
I much prefer him at WB with Iredale at LCB than on the left of a back 4.
I like Obita, obviously has had a rocky patch from time to time but hes a good option when caddens not available. Sign of our depth

Bit unfair on Bowie. Tucked the penalty away with ease and unlucky with his shot that the keeper did well to save. Myko offered nowt and his chance was a sitter.
I really liked the shot i presume you’re talking about. Completely sold the defender by feigning a pass to Holliett before taking the shot.

Considering 4 out of the 10 outfield players we started with had spent most of the last week sitting on planes it was a really good performance.
It would possibly explain why we didn't absolutely spank a really poor St Johnstone in the 2nd half. For me we did just enough in that 2nd half to ensure the win .... but the fact is the 2nd half was a bit of a non event and that probably explained why half the crowd had gone home by the time Bowie scored his penalty.
It was a totally professional performance .... but if you want folk to stay to the end, and more importantly come back, smack in a few 2nd half goals when you have an opponent on the ropes :greengrin
The next 2 games are massive ..... a win at Ibrox would be huge and almost certainly ensure close to a full house against Dundee. Sevco are a team who lost two goals to Killie and 3 to Dundee. OK they came back to win in both games, but it's clear where their weakness lies.

How was Obita yesterday? Some goal involvements which is pleasing.
Obita was excellent - not a hint of rustiness and slotted right in, dominating his side of the pitch with keen running and some great deliveries. Gray might have a headache deciding who to play in that LWB slot at Ibrox.
