Brian McLaughlin is taking the piss out you.

1. You let him start and dominate every press conference

2. He is constantly at it causing mischief. Eg 4 months ago “David when will you get sacked”. Now “David when will you be moving to a better job” He is constantly attempting to put negative slants on every story.

3. You use his interview as the main hibs content on socials pre match (your telling me no other journalist ask any questions. They might even ask better if they get first dibs.

4. And he’s a fat Jambo bassa

The latest presser this week is quite frankly embarrassing that Rocky was put through that in our building.

No need to get Hunlike and ban journalists we don’t like but for Fs sake grow a pair.

I dont disagree that BM is a clown, but I thought he was totally fine with the Rocky interview questions - and I thought that Rocky dealt with the questions really professionally.

Back in the day David Forsyth of Benchmark Media provided comms advice to Hibs, and would quite often attend press conferences (or would deputise to someone within the club) to ensure the sort of free reign McLaughlin enjoyed in this presser was not possible.

Benchmark were quite close to STF and Rod Petrie, from memory, so I’m not sure if they were retained when the club was sold. If they weren’t, then a replacement is badly required.

Certainly when I used to attend the press conferences (we’re talking circa 20 years ago now to be fair) BM wouldn’t have got away with quizzing a player on who had made a rejected bid for him - that would have been nipped in the bud and I daresay most journos would have realised they wouldn’t get away with that and wouldn’t have gone there.

Let's manage the planted yam when he's on our patch. He's doing his bit for the thieves and we are allowing it. Get some professionalism around it and give him minimum time, never first and maybe ask him what provoked his question as most non Hearts fans (or wherever else he's had a good lunch) are unlikely to be interested in his grudge.

We should have a press or communications officer present who goes round the room taking ONE question from each reporter/journalist. McLaughlin should not be able to dictate the narrative week after week.

If there aren't enough press people present currently to make that work, then we should invite in the Hibs Observer and Hibs podcast hosts as well. It should be a positive environment in our own building ffs.

His appearance in that behind the scenes Hearts laughable documentary said it all with his questions for Budge and others. Was almost on a par with the Jim White question to Laudrup, Brian why are you so good? The fact he has such a position is incredible and sums up BBC sport in this country. Jobs for the boys where guys can for years have a cushy number and can stay as long as they want. Lucky if any of them are this side of 50. Jeez Chick Young who is simply awful retired then was able to come back.

If we are to let him attend our press conferences, and have to suffer his presence, I'd be happy to see him put on a wobbly old, narrow chair at the back of the room, well away from the biscuits. That would really hurt him.

A quick google of said journalists name prefixed by BBC brought up this on page 1.

Only difference is that was all true the Riccarton three confirmed that. This was during Mad Vlads time and players were not being paid.

That’s all fair and well but it’s the drip, drip, drip. You could argue it makes some of the Hibs support more negative overall, say those who don’t necessarily follow the club as close as others and rely on main stream media. Preston and McLaughlin are walking Hearts adverts on a national Broadcaster at times.
