View Full Version : Fair play to the Kilmarnock fans

For those who head along to Rugby Park every other week to watch football attempted to be played on that ridiculous plastic surface are made of sterner stuff than most of us, and are to be applauded for subjecting themselves to comedy bounces, a “proper tackle” free environment, balls running away from players, players slipping and sliding all over the place and on numerous occasions getting their feet stuck in the thing.

It perhaps explains the reason as to why Kilmarnock have a very decent regular travelling support.

They had two fans with mics on Killie TV today according to them Hibs were never in it, were time wasting from kick off and Killie are world beaters

In reality Killie had the last five minutes and Hibs should have had the game done and dusted long before they equalised

Biased or what ?

It's a different sport there. Number of unnatural bounces, strange rolls and player slips was ridiculous - although just the usual at that ground.

I've nothing against Killie as a team or support but they are getting away with murder with the pitch.

There won't be many Killie supporters left that saw them win the league in the 60's.
Hats off to all Killie supporters, anyone who supports a Scottish team outside of Celgers is alright by me.

As for their plastic, the biggest problem with good artificial pitches that get heavy use occurs when they are not replaced frequently enough.
SPL teams should have to replace them every 4 or 5 years.
The Killie pitch is grim and so many Hibs players slipped to the ground today at vital moments.
The Killie players were much more sure footed.

Must’ve sprayed about one million gallons of water on the pitch prematch

Why ?

To make our players slip and fall over and it worked

Lazy drivel. They hate Rangers as much as we do.

I very much doubt that.

Proven footballing teams like us should get a plus one point differential before playing on that ‘pitch’. Anti-football and a risk to players.

Wrecks it as a product. Short changes supporters. Disadvantages the opposition. Good riddance to bad rubbish…last time we have to endure it was today

Was saying exactly this today - regardless of the scoreline, it’s virtually unwatchable. Verging on farce at times which is ridiculous for a top league.

Didn't notice pre-match but at half-time they did put a lot of water on just the half in front of us and none on the other half.

You tend to find the supporters of clubs who see thousands of punters leave their town to watch the Ugly Sisters every week despise them with a passion.

Soaked the pitch before the start (and the poor wee cheerleader kids were soaked by it too!)

And we could possibly see two more of the plastic surfaces in the premier league next season.

Yes they do I played on it in May ?

A “dispute resolution process” will likely buy plenty of time and probably find some way to enable the likes of Falkirk, Kilmarnock and Livingston to continue with plastic for quite some time yet.

Oh, they do. To the extent that a Killie BBC meteorologist got into trouble for referring to Castle Greyskull on a weather forecast.

I’d agree with this. Supporters of Motherwell and StMirren in particular seem to have a deep and visceral loathing for both sides of the OF.

Do falkirk have a plastic pitch?

They do but it's less than 2 years old so it should still play well for another few years.
The Killie pitch is 6 years old and the Livingston pitch 7 years old. Both look completely ****ged and we have to tolerate the Killie one for another season!
With full time teams training and playing on them and extensive community use outside of that I think they are done for top level football after 4 years.
In a leisure context 3G pitches should last 8-10 years.
Apparently the upkeep of a grass pitch is now circa 750k a year largely due to the rise in the price of electricity to power the big **** off grass growing lights required to keep it in decent nick and a grass pitch can only sustain 10% of the weekly use an artificial surface can so you can understand why the smaller clubs need artificial pitches for economic reasons.

Marvin Bartley was indicating how good the Falkirk one is in comparison to Killie and Livi

I blame mcinness aswell, he's an complete slug of a manager. Hate playin against his teams, every dark art in the book, at least play some football, or try to.

Must be brutal for the supporters watchin your players constantly diving and feigning injuries to break up play instead of tryin to win the ball and create something.

Not from the away end, no.

Maybe just something that shows up on camera?

Itll be even worse then.

Scottish football at its best/worst.

Okay - let’s hope St Johnstone and Dundee overhaul them (after the split obviously)

No chance that happens. Findlay and Vassell will be back soon and Killie will float up the table.

His teams are generally awful to watch . I never could understand why some were so keen for him to become our manager the last few times when we were looking for a manager .

It will be interesting to see how they cope when they have to change that horrendous pitch they have which gives them an advantage. If my figures are right they have won 23 points at home but only 9 on the road this season so far.

Interestingly enough, McInnes said that Hibs were the better side and deserved to win.
