What happened to players with big gaps in their front teeth? Every team back in the day would have at least one guy who'd had gnashers bashed out.

Is the game less violent now? Are they still around but hidden by better, more adhesive falsies? Better dental hygiene?

Back in the day you had falsers which would be taken out pre game Ala Joe Jordon but with better dentistry and players on far bigger wages we're seeing bridges, screw ins etc, add to that the spate of hair transplants and less Bobby Charlton comb overs.

You see a fair few players wearing gumshields nowadays which probably helps. Not universally like rugby but a lot more common than the last few decades.

Advances in dentistry and the ability to repair and replace issues is probably the biggest change though.

Joe Jordan typifies my childhood football memories remember seeing a documentry when Allys army went Argentina and everyone was petrified of Go Gordon. Tremendous visual symbol big jaws with his arms outstreched think it was after the qualifier v Wales or czech dark blue Scotland top on big gap in teeth.
