As the title suggests… where is Alasanna?

I think he's probably miles off match fitness/sharpness. He's not really played since November and there hasn't really been a chance to give him time other than his cameo that saw him sent off. Guys like Levitt and NMW are rightly ahead of him currently. Kwon will probably be seen as similar.

Bowie’s been out injured since the end of November and he’s back in the team starting games. Manneh has trained and played friendlies with his old team. Just weird he hasn’t made the last two squads at all. Same with Marv.
He was signed with four months of the season remaining, so will surely start featuring soon if good enough.

Yeah it's a good point regarding Bowie, but he was also back in training with us on grass a while before he was back playing, so perhaps hasn't been that big a run up. But I'm not sure.
I would be surprised if we don't see him at all this season. If he's currently going through a mini pre-season of sorts then hopefully he'll be ready to make an impact sooner rather than later. Ekpiteta must be about managing his injury still? I know he came on against Celtic but perhaps when he came off he felt it go a bit and it just needs a little more time?

Yeah, suppose the other thing with Manneh will be adjusting to a new team, league and style of play. We’ve seen with plenty of players that can take time.
Just looking forward to see what he has to offer.
Really hope that’s the case with Marv, be good to have him back in the squad as an option.

High hopes for him. Hoping it’s just a fitness thing rather than gray seeing him in training and thinking oh no we’ve signed a bit of a dud.

Would love to see him in action soon, with the season getting to the sharp end and players starting to tire / pick injuries it would be great to know we have players that can step in if needed… I also worry that with Triantis’s performances this year we may not be able to sign him and it could be Manneh that fits that mould…. Time will tell I guess.
He's here!

Odd 'cameo' to he thrown on in a game that was so finely poised if he wasn't fit?

Thats a very good point I hadn’t considered. If he was ‘risked’ for that sub appearance why not the following couple of games? I wonder if hes picked up a knock since we hadn’t heard about?

I reckon his signing was more with a view to next season, when we’ll be minus Triantis, and getting him settled in. Can’t remember who it was, Gray or McKay, but they mentioned about getting him on a pre contract but then the opportunity came up to get him in earlier.
Think he’s just been a bit unlucky and the sending off has killed him a bit. That gave Moriah-Welsh an opportunity which he’s taken and he’s just found himself further away from getting minutes as a result.

It's just a theory, not going to say it's all the reason for it. The other answer is he's totally ***** and Dave Gray has sussed him already, but I'm choosing to live in hope it's a timing issue and we'll see the real him at some point.
In regards to St Mirren Levitt and Newell were both out injured and NMW hadn't stepped into the recent form yet. It left only Kwon and Triantis to start with NMW who hadn't played much either and Manneh on the bench. Perhaps despite how unfair the red card was it was also a sign of how slow he maybe was in terms of match speed.

Discussing this with Hibernian Verse yesterday. We think he’s not just going to be thrown in for what have been major fixtures for us over the past 2 weeks combined with his ban. He’ll need time to get that sharpness and flow of our team, but that’s more the goal of pre-season rather than the constant 6-pointers we are playing just now.

That's the way I'm looking at it, we have bodies back playing well, he'll get a place on the bench the next few weeks and probably get some minutes.

Probably won’t see him near good enough until after pre_season. Will he be good enough eventually? Hope so but anyones guess at the moment to say.

I would be amazed and very disappointed if we didn't see him creature much over the remaining fixtures. He's been brought in as the first signing really of the new structure of recruitment at Hibs, allowing for Malky to not have had enough time to put a proper process in place for last summer's window, January was the first opportunity to show that process and the BKFC benefits in action.
If the one signing we've made isn't good enough to trouble the first team when we need him this season, then it's not a ringing endorsement of that process.
I do think we will see him, and I think we will be impressed - he clearly had a brutal experience in his debut, but he was unlucky in that we had one of the worst referees he'll see that day.

If that's the case he shouldn't have played against St Mirren

He came into the team and got sent off. That gave NMW a chance and he took it, a Derby or away at Celtic is not the best sort of game to throw in a brand new player who is just getting up to speed with his new teammates and a new league. He will get game time… and it wouldn’t surprise me if quite a few posters on here decide he is rubbish after one or two games… just like they did with Iredale, Triantis, Bushiri, O’Hora. Etc etc etc. when he does come in, let’s give him a bit of time…eh?

We're on a good run that every sub has contributed to. He doesn't need to be crap but if he's not fully up to speed, why disrupt a good squad by dropping someone who has contributed this year? Look at the bench from Celtic game, barring Youan (who has credit in the bank & we know what he can do), every player has come on and done well or started games for us recently.

:top marksThere are already a few that seem to be teetering on the brink of pronouncing "he's *****". Some folk just cannot help themselves!
I expect we'll get to see a bit of Manneh this season but think he's been signed more with a view to strengthening the midfield in the long term - so may be next season before we see the best of him.

The old Hibs.net classic of making up things that haven't happened.
People are just wondering where he is. Probably because we spent a fee to bring him in early, presumably because we wanted him to contribute this season rather than waiting until next. He hasnt featured on the bench for a few games and there has been no reasoning as to why, so people are wondering what the script is with him. There really isn't a great underhand conspiracy about it.

Presumably it's something that David Gray will be asked about soon and he'll explain the situation.
To be leaping to conclusions (with zero evidence) that he's a dud seems a tad ridiculous.

I’m not surprised we’ve seen little of him since the debut red card.
The form of NMW, the form of the team, big games and no real necessity to make changes. He’s been unfortunate in that sense, but I’m certain we’ll start to see him in next few weeks.

Same, I don’t think there’s much in it other than unfortunate timing. Up until a couple of weeks ago Moriah-Welsh would have been pretty much discounted by most folk, he’s just taken his opportunity to Manneh’s expense I think.
Only thing, I’d like to see him in the squad at the weekend ahead of Kwon.

I was surprised Manneh wasn't on the bench at the weekend as only Levitt is a recognised midfielder, yet we had four attacking players in Gayle, Youan, Hoilett and Kuharevich.

Really disappointing that our one signing in January still hasn’t made any impact whatsoever and we are now into mid March. He may well have an amazing end of season but as it currently stands I don’t know why we didn’t just get him on a pre contract and bring someone else in during the last window.

In the meantime we’ve moved into third place when some were panicking for weeks about how lack of signings were going to ruin our season.

Maybe a pre-contract wasn't an option or risk missing out on him.
Don't you see a benefit in him being with the group for this season and able to hit ground running next season straightaway?
I don't know how you can be really disappointed after the run we've been on since January...

I'm hoping he'll drop into the team unexpectedly and hit the ground running like a few others have done in recent months.
Be great to have him fit & champing at the bit to get into the team & make a big impression.

From an Observer article:
‘ Sources at HTC say he's performed impressively in training, and that was corroborated by Chris Cadden talking up his qualities in a recent press conference.’
Manneh also observing Ramadan just now as well, though plenty of players do that I suppose.
Pleased he’s looking promising in training at least!

Funny you mention ramadan. The quote about impressing everyone in training is reminiscent of early reports of Zemmama at east mains, when he was doing things that made everyone think we had a landed a proper top talent. Never really lived up to his potential but on his day the wee man just ran games on his own.

A fit Zemmama (providing we kept hold of him) was one of the best players outside the Old Firm at that point in my opinion. Genuinely talented player that I would have loved to have seen play 200+ games for us and left a proper hero.
Was a shame that he just couldn't stay fit even at Boro to make the most of his talent.

Like Benji, he was an oustanding talent on his day, we just didn't see enough of it on a consistent basis.
I've actually mis-remembered the pair of them running the show in the 2007 League Cup final, but Zemmama actually only came on when it was already 3-1.

Fletcher and Benji were both exceptional in that final. Wee Lewis was MOTM but i thought one of those two would have got it.

Benji's footwork was exceptional. The way he could produce those wee shimmies to open up the space for a shot. Did similar in the semi v St Johnstone.
Lewis was also exceptional that day. Real finesse for such a young player. While he's obviously had a great career, he developed into a different sort of player to the one he looked that day IMO.

One of my favourite players ever, as you say on his day he was one of the best players in the league, even including the old firm.
He was capable of moments of absolute genius. His goal against Hearts where he put two defenders on their backsides before slipping it beyond Gordon was brilliant.
