Must be missing something to moan at theses days but watching the goal for the 500th time this morning and as good as it is I just can't stand Crockers commentary.

Got to be the worst commentator out there. Miss the days of David Begg.

Anyway. **** the Hearts.

He seems to have been the voice of Scottish football for a good while. Sky/Setanta/Sky.

Perhaps not through choice. He's had a long career being the nearly man of Sky commentary. Some EPL games here and there but never number one pick. However, I have to respect a man immersed in our product for so long.

His style may grate in some areas. I get that with a few commentators though.

He does have a few phrases he wheels out almost every game however he’s better than that Peter Drury droaning on like some failed poet

I really like Ian Crocker. To me he commentates as if he enjoys and gets Scottish football, and he's voiced some truly iconic Hibs moments over the last 25 years or so.

Like him, probably the best for me, but there really isn't much quality in the swamp they draw some of the rest from.

I agree 100% with this :agree:

When I saw the thread I assumed the OP was going to be full of praise for a moment of footage and commentary that will be elevated into Hibs folklore!

He seemed buzzing during the 6-2 (shows how long he’s been doing it), and he also seemed chuffed in 2016 hen we finally did it

Ach Ian Crocker is alright :

In a recent interview he gave :

Best player Messi

Best team Man United 1999

Best match covered Hibs winning the Scottish Cup

Who can forget the immortal words ‘ It’s Henderson to deliverrrrr….!

‘ Hibs are standing on the brink of history after 114 years They’ve almost won the Scottish Cup

He's ok in general but he absolutely murdered the commentary for Iredale's winner yesterday so I get where the OP is coming from

Was it not spectacular?

It sounded to me like he lost his train of thought and just elongated it to get out of a hole.

He seemed to be vibing on some South American commentators for the winner on Sun.... went something like "Goooooooooooooooal - THaaaaaat was a Screeeeeeeeamer"

I didn't mind a bit as Iredale's finish definitely had a bit of Brazil about it :greengrin

Met Ian Coocker a couple of times I can tell you he knows his stuff. Loves the Edinburgh Derby. Was amused when I played him the Henderson to deliver as my ring tone.

Give me Crocker 1 x million times over the main sky sports one for the English games.

For every goal he tries to deliver the blockbuster line, and I know they have to big it up sometimes. But my god he does my head.

Bring back Andy gray and Martin Tyler.

He's decent and as said before, knows his stuff. Also has a passion for it when some would probably think that gig somehow beneath them. Worked with enough commentators over the years to know this. It's extremely ego driven as you'd probably expect.

He gets a free pass for his cup final comms anyway...

When did he say that?

Not denying it happened but we won that game on penalties so trying to work out when it would have been said

Absolutely fantastic commentator who has almost become a naturalised Scot. He loves our game and think he likes Hibs as well.

Definitely said it in the final.

You could watch any game Crocker commentates and you know he'll say "....to deliver" at least 5 times. He needs some new material.

Also the ICT v Falkirk cup final commentary was almost word for word the same as ours in 2016. "Not giving up on their shot at glory yet" etc.

We seem to have many expert commentators on here? my mate went in for a competition with the BBC and he said is was tough as you are getting messages in your headphones all the time about replays of goals incidents and other things as well as commentating and filling in, in real time.

Peter Martin I used to like. Very enthusiastic abd liked his comms on the 6-2 game. Might have just been the highlights he did. Don't know if he's a Hibby but he did that match well. Never hear him on comms these days but see him on Scottish football stuff now and again.

David Francey got through his long Sportsound career by saying “up go the heads” about 5 times a game so favoured can catchphrases are not unique to Crocker!

Brian Moore commentated just about every goal as "it's in there!" Presumably whilst frantically looking up his notes and teamsheets for the number of who actually scored!

Also, "It's a drive, it's high and wide". Probably nowhere near the goal but made it exciting.

And how many stramashes did Arthur Montfort see?

I like him, but that may be because he's voiced two of the best Hibs games ever. He appears to talk our game up which sets him above a lot of the Scottish commentators and also there's no whiff of the Old Filth hanging around him.

That guy moaned and whinged through any game I heard him commentate on 5 live, if he had Lawerson as his side kick I'd not bother with the match at all.

Delighted when they both got punted by the BBC

Never liked Alan Green but he was always quite highly revered by the commentators I've worked with. Never understood why. Definitely more suited to radio than TV but didn't like him on either. Fell out with a lot of folk in the industry and in football. Said "goodness gracious" about every ten minutes.

I’ll always have a wee soft spot for him for the 6-2 and the cup final commentary but I’ve always found him very limited as a commentator. Every time there is a goal, he always follows them with 3 short loud bursts of dialogue.
