The best derby goal, in terms of individual skill, by us since Mallan in the 1-2 under Heckingbottom?

Dwight Gayle.

Absolutely Dwight Gayle’s sublime touch to steer it into the corner at Tynecastle.

Both class but Iredales just better for me. Can’t beat a volley from outside the box.

The best since Boyle opener

Best derby goal for us since Griffiths at the nanodome. And probably better because it wasn't a set piece, and it was the winner.

With it being a left-footed shot from distance, it probably most reminded me of Scotty Allan’s cushioned shot in the Natural Order game.

It actually reminded me a bit of Riordan's goal against them years ago. Riordan's is one of the best ever goals scored against Hearts, but Iredale's was still a beauty.

Crystals one wins it for me, simply because he not only started the move out on the far touchline followed by a cute backheal 50 yard run to the place he instinctively new whereto be for Nicky's cross, then that finish, sublime.

21 years between them but against the same keeper?!

Is it more sublime than a volley from outside the box after beating Shankenstein to the ball and smashing it past Gordon?
It’s a question I ask cause I almost agree with you. Both ****ing worldies.

Boyles was a good finish btw, getting not much love but it was excellent.

More than good, it was outstanding. He found the only tiny window of space available to beat Gordon from there.

I have fond memories of Horgan's second at Tynie

Was beautiful, but I actually think Boyle's was better. I was pish but scored a few like Iredale's by smashing it, I'd never be able to score Boyle's in my life. The blistering pace and then to slow down and be composed, world class finishing

As mentioned it reminded me of Riordan from the other side all those years ago. The plooky lesbian diving and getting nowhere near it was very similar.

I actually thought Boyle’s goal yesterday was the best of the two. Full tilt and under pressure, from a really tight angle against one of the best shot stoppers in Scotland.

Such a calm finish too. Plus his celebration was excellent.
Got to give it to Iredale for me though.

Riordan also scored a similar derby goal at the other end of the park a year or so later. For a wee guy he had that Griffiths-like ability to generate phenomenal power and both he and Griffiths just struck the ball so cleanly. Wonderful technique.

It was poetry in motion. The strike, the celebration, the roar. Absolute cinema.

Not been on since yesterday so this is a point likely already made, but it dawned on me this morning that Shankland's stupid act of petulance to get booked probably stopped him putting in a challenge on Iredale for the winner.
