I watched the Real Madrid game today and was glad I did . What a player and a joy it was to watch Modric who at 39 was still pulling the strings in midfield up until the 86 minute when he was substituted…
He actually beat one of Girona players for pace and they give away a foul by pulling him back and also did this in the game( 1:10 in ) …

Unbelievable player.

An absolute Rolls Royce of a footballer. And what is it now, six Champions Leagues or something?? He's about as good as it gets. A true artist.
Will be a sad day when he no longer graces a football pitch as there are some players whose style just won't be replicated. Modric is one of them. Looks like a guy who couldnae kick a ba' to save his life which makes it even better!

Quite easily the classiest midfielder playing in a top flight League in the past decade or so. Makes the hardest parts of the game look so easy and he's still doing it at 39. Absolute joke.

Iniesta and Xavi better for me but agreed Modric is absolutely top drawer.

I was in Croatia last summer Dubrovnik and Split. There are multiple murals and of him. He is a national treasure to them.

He’s be far more of a household name had he been playing in an era without Messi and Ronaldo. One of the best ever.

I read that he left Tottenham at something like 26 or 27 having never won a trophy in his career. He’s now Real Madrid’s most decorated player of all time.

The man is an absolute footballing genius. Everything he does looks so utterly effortless, and I don't think I've ever watched a live game he's been involved with and not thought he's bossed it. He's this generations Zidane.

"He's better than Zidane".
Well maybe not, but he's one player for who the song lyrics could be true.

I beg your pardon?
Whatever he's achieved in the game he will never get to be the beating heart of a hibs team winning their first Scottish Cup in 114 years.
There is already a hibs legend for whom the song is true!

Apparently RM want to offer him another year's contract to take him past his 40th birthday. Amazing.

He was constantly making himself available for the ball , amount of ground he covered , range of passing , his goal . For all the superstars Real Madrid have he was the one making Real Madrid tick which I think is quite incredible at the age he is .

I thought Iniesta left Barca for Japan longer ago than he did. I *think* I agree with you but Modric is absolutely timeless
