Our summer signing policy brought in several big strong lads. I can count at least nine players over six foot in our matchday squad. .

Other than at centre half, the Old Firm are vulnerable in that regard all over the pitch. That's why St Mirren are doing so well this season.

As much as I loved Paul Hanlon he was only 5'11" and could be bullied in our box. That's no longer happening and it's great to see us winning so many tackles, blocks and headers in the defensive third.

If only Myko could compete like Bowie up front?

We were much more physical than celtic and it helped a lot when trying to see out the game. It should help next week in the derby as well, hears usually have a more physical team than us, not sure that's the case anymore.

For once, we’re more physical than them in the derby. We’ve had good footballers but now seem to have a blend of physicality and technical skill. Hearts won a lot of their derbies over the past 20+ years simply by being more physical than us. Don’t see any reason why they beat us next weekend if we turn up and play like that.

I think this is why Kwon was signed. Hasn’t worked out but that’s the reason.

Yeah, lots of big guys deliberately signed by Hibs last summer. As someone else said above, St Mirren have the same signing policy.
Makes sense, no point in trying to match Celgers for quality but if you can dominate in both boxes you have a chance.
Bowie noticably disrupted the Celtic centre halves yesterday with sheer power and that added a punch to go with our mean defence.
If he is fit for the rest of the season we will be tough to beat and more likely to win games we would previously draw.

There are quite a few big teams in the league this season
Apart from Hibs, Dundee Utd, St Mirren, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock have lots of big physical players

Yogi referenced this on comms. Spoke again about thr millennium derby. Turning round in the tunnel and looking at "men" lining up in the green and white

In such a physical league, things like this are marginal gains

Apart from the team spirit, this is the big improvement and change to previous generations of Hibs teams. It's as if Hibs made a conscious effort to counter the "boy-band" accusation where teams would come to ER knowing they could bully us all over the pitch. Now, they can't and it must piss the opposition off  Love it !

Theres a big variation in listed heights for players. Wiki has Bowie at6’4, transfer market at 6’2, somewhere else had him at 6 and a half(or metre equivalent). Couldnt see listed heights on our website. Basically, our whole centre back line is 6’3 or 6’4 or thereabouts and extremely built. Myko and Bowie give us height and strength up top, and lots of relative midgets like Manneh Newell and Levitt scurrying about Land of the Giants Triantis in midfield :greengrin
