Just looking on the NMW thread who had a very good game today and I was thinking with Newell on the bench today and Manneh back from his suspension and hopefully Levitt back soon too there is some competition places in that area now which can only be a good thing for us .

Our midfield will be Triantis and two others.

My ideal three is Triantis, NMW and Campbell.

I absolutely get why it won't be that when Newell is back, still think it's our best three.

I think it is fairly noticeable that players now know they have to perform to get minutes and that competition is leading to better performances. We have been getting results since Joe N was injured with different midfield partners for Triantis and Campbell. I still think Joe is the best player to play next to Nectar with Campbell ahead. It is a huge bonus that we can bring teh energy of NMW on though and likewise Mennah and Levitt have different qualities so they will bring that to the squad. I hope Rocky is back soon as playing 3 central players means we don't have like for like cover for those defenders albeit Cads could do the right and Obita the left

Them three today were very good but Newell will be back in the team . The Manneh one is interesting in we don’t really know what he’s like yet , if he could play in the Campbell role if needed? . It’s good we have the options as it keeps whoever has the jersey on their toes in knowing if they aren’t performing there’s someone ready to step in .

Keep that midfield 3. I've always been a fan of NMW and I'm really glad to see him get a chance.

If we are playing a team that sit deep and we need to break them down then Newell or Manneh to maybe come in.

It’s an interesting but positive dilemma about who to play. For me it would be Campbell, Triantis and probably Newell, but the others are running Newell close.

The right midfield depends on who you are playing against.
Fortunately we had the right midfield available for today until NMW had to be subbed. It was telling that Newell didn't replace him.
Suggests that Gray was very reluctant to play him because he isn't ready yet. Has another 4 days to get himself sorted before the Dundee Utd game.
Will he be fit enough to come on as a 70th minute sub?

Fortunately Kwon and Manneh will be available.
Gray will need to pick 19 players from the 21 available for the matchday squad unless new injuries (Bushiri?) takes away the need for that choice.

I think when we are playing the top 3 or 4 teams then we need the energy and ability to press that was in starting 11 yesterday. When we are playing teams that sit and try and hit on the break, and we need to find ways to break them down then we need passers like Newell & Levitt that can break the lines with balls inside the wing backs / full backs and its those games we have missed Youan

Manneh is I think clever planning as he is our player and has time to settle to be the replacement for the on loan Triantis (unless a miracle such as Bournemouth buying him and loaning him to us to continue his development)

NMW has gave gray a great selection headache

Took his chance and more

Looks a good egg as well, always watch the subs and their reactions on victories to see if they’re not really partaking etc

NMW gets it. Just moved up the pecking order after yesterday’s performance.

Well done NMW. 10/10

The pass in to triantis for the first goal shouldn’t be overlooked as was bowies work to bring trusty way out of position to leave the massive gap for Campbell to exploit

A really good team goal

Said the same to my mates about the first goal. Just a really well worked goal from all involved.

Was screaming at Triantis to go out wide to Nicky at the time though! Then he casually slots through Campbell. Love it.

Triantis is a genuinely lovely footballer to watch.

He is solid, calm and can pick a pass. You can see why Sunderland signed him.

It is a problem (a good one) for Gray ahead of the games next week, but we also have suspensions (Triantis must be due one) and injuries to cover.

I think we are a far more creative team with Newell in there, but Campbell has earned his slot.

Its great to have the competition...................the only player who shouldnt really be considered is Kwon.

If all our midfield are fit and ban free, at the moment Triantis, Newell and Campbell are starters, only Kwon wouldn't be quoted, just not good enough. I like NMW but I'd look to move on Levitt who's been a huge disappointment, Manneh I haven't a clue yet.

Don’t see how Newell gets back into the team if everyone is fit.

Good to have on the bench but starting places will be limited for him now.

Depends on the opposition, he’ll be more useful than NMW against teams where we’ll have most of the ball who are difficult to break down. We’ve struggled for goals in our previous 4 away games against St Johnstone, Ross County, Ayr and St Mirren - only scoring once from open play.

Our results have been better when he’s not available since the day he arrived here.

This must have been the hardest weekend ever for you to squeeze a negative in, but you managed. As nonsense as it is

The major thing that looks positive, to most, is we now have real choice in midfield to adapt to different teams, and to change game during it, hopefully,

Newell assuming he can get to full fitness will, correctly, walk back in to team, but now he needs to play well weekly as he was mostly doing before injury. He has better performing teammates now, and more competition. I think one of the biggest challenges we will have is more teams will now be back to sitting back against us, making us do all the work, so it will definitely be a squad game for this.

Campbell is making himself difficult to drop at moment, but Gray will have to make some real tough decisions. Obviously Manneh is the unknown quantity, but according to what you read I seem to see he is a deep lying midfielder who gets around the park, which you could also see as Triantis and lesser Newell, so if all three play to that it may make a much more fluid attack, and take some pressure of Cadden being our main out ball. Campbell and NMW would hopefully play some parts, and against the Old Firm Campbell may start. All 5 probably have reasonably staked a claim to start which is a huge benefit to keep all performing.

I did think Kwon might be our strongest player when signing but that is not looking likely now, so maybe I'm not the best judge :-)

I do wonder, but again not seen anything to say so, if Manneh is Triantis's replacement. Which will be sad but totally out of our hands.

What is nonsense is the implication that these results were all because of him and him alone. Tiresome silly nonsense.

Lighten up, I’m sure it’s a co-incidence.[emoji106]
