Threw himself in to quite a few 50/50s and his recovery tackles and blocks were just as good.

My favourite player in this side currently. He just lives defending and he clearly enjoys being here too.

Agreed, other than Nicky Cadden, I think he's been one of the biggest reasons for our turnaround in form. Quality player and a great signing.

In saying that, Triantis and Rocky are right up there too, it's great to see so many players really stepping up now.

I disagree with the 7/10’s and just goes quietly about his business chat. I think he’s one of the best defenders in the league, at least 9/10 every game and the sole reason for our turnaround imo. Outstanding defender and player of the year for me!

His fantastic block as Shankland pulled the trigger late in the derby ensured we won and there have been a load since then including a brilliant one today.
Mackay had a fantastic transfer window in the summer with our permanent signings. Iredale was signed with little fanfare and little expectation from the supporters. As someone else said above, Bolton must have some defence to let this guy go.

Unsung hero in that defence - brilliant attitude and desire to defend and he’s been a catalyst to unifying the back five. Reads the game well, important blocks, celebrating a great tackle like a goal which I love to see. Other players take plaudits for goals and assists but he’s been my player of the season so far.

isn’t it lovely that there are a few candidates for POTY.. you’d have to include Triantis, Rocky and Nicky Cadden maybe even Jordan Smith.. It’s going to be tough to win this season.
