View Full Version : Hibees positivity thread ahead of the Celtic game

Since I've started these positivity threads, our record is unbeaten in 13 with 9 wins and 4 draws. I didn't start one against Celtic at the start of this run and we lost.

Tomorrow is going to be a difficult. Celtic are clearly the best team in Scotland and I was impressed by their play against Bayern Munich. We're also struggling to put out a competitive midfield due to injuries, suspensions and players not available to play.

However, we're 12 games unbeaten in all games, so confidence will be high. Tomorrow is a chance to see how far we've progressed since the start of the season.

Let's keep the positivity flowing as the Hibees run out at a packed Easter Road. I hope the positive results will continue.

Too often we approach these games with “nothing to lose” expectations and defeat is just accepted as a given and we move on.

With the run we are on being a mixed bag of excellent performances, some not so good but digging out wins and draws where previously we might have lost, I’m going to be disappointed if we don’t take something from tomorrows game.

I agree to a point. If they turn up, we’ll lose though.

Hope we show a bit intent and go after them as much as we can. Then, if they’re off it a bit, we can get something.

With how tight the league is, an unexpected result or two is probably the difference between getting third or not though.

Just asking we compete and get in about them. We will make chances need to be clinical

Positivity thread so looking forward to the game and think we have a chance of taking something from it . We `ve become a team with no stars ( Youan possible exception so hopefully he`s back soon to boost our cup and European qualification chances ) so tomorrow is about defence continuing to do well and rest of team taking chances . When Lennon was our manager we had a great record against Celtic partly perhaps because we seemed to play them after they had a big European match a lot . Similar circumstances tomorrow . Great chance for our whole team and manager to show their worth without thinking about 2 big games coming up next week .

Why not dare to believe we can sneak a draw even?
They are strong and folks off the bench it’s a formidable task.
One which Celtic faced during the week and stood up to the test. It will have drained them mentally and physically - they are resilient but let’s give that a real test.

We have the mentality now and we are able to grind out results. Hopefully Celtc have lead in their legs from their European election and we get them on an off day. 1-0 Hibs with a dodgy VAR pen to make up for the shocking pens they have got against us

Hibs are very good at not losing goals at the moment so a draw is a real possibility.
We are also scoring goals at home.
That combination gives us a chance.
NMW will get the place of the ineligable Kwon. That change will lose us height but gain us legs which is important against Celtic.
I reckon it'll be a draw if we can carry a little luck at their set pieces.

Celtic have regularly struggled at Easter Road over the last six or seven years, and even their win last season was very late and quite controversial. With their mid week exertions and our solidity recently there's no reason why we can't hold out hope of some sort of result.

I’m more confident with this set of players than I have been for a while but Celtic games have really annoyed me in recent times due to the early goals / timing of goals.

Last 5 games against Celtic…goals in first 10 mins 1st and 2nd half.

Celtic v Hibs - December 7th 2024 - lose a goal after 6 mins then 10 Mins into 2nd half.

Celtic v Hibs - August 18th - lose a goal after 4 mins then 11 mins into 2nd half.

Hibs v Celtic - August 11th - lose a goal after 3 mins.

Hibs v Celtic - Feb 7th - lose a goal after 10 mins

Celtic v Hibs - December 6th 2023 - lose a goal after 5 mins then 6mins and 10 Mins into 2nd half

We simply have to do better at the start of each half as it always feel like you are playing catch up and completely takes any momentum out the team / crowd.

Due to early kick off and rubbish train times I am having to leave soon but have managed to get a nice LNER 1st class ticket for a tenner., and will get a nice breakfast in Edinburgh, setting me up for enjoyable 90 minutes as we finally topple Celtic and carry on our run, then I can rush home for a film I am dying to see. Short but sweet visit to my beloved Edinburgh, cheering me up.

The only down side to that would be my Dad not being here for me to torment all week about how I obviously chose the proper team in Green as he curses and says Celtic were rubbish now anyway, his constant retort to our few wins since the70's :-)

Meet Dundee-based son in Perth. Drive to match with music on and good catchup.

Greet usual crew in East Stand Singing Section who will be well up for this game.

As I have done for seven decades - stand side by side for the entirety of the 90 minutes and enjoy the banter. Noise up the Lesser Greens whenever we can.

Don't pish the breeks when Celtic score. We came back twice against the Cream Buns. Believe.

After the match, catch up with Edinburgh-based son. Review match.

Back to Perth. Treat my good lady to a nice cocktail and we will practice our new jive routine for the Edinburgh rockin' club on Sunday afternoon.

Sunny weekend with a great day out two days in a row. What's not to like.

In fact, ‘DPTB’ should be the title of every Twenty First century life coach manual.

Chris Cadden over Miller for me.

I know people will moan but it's just an opinion but I honestly don't rate Miller at all. Hope he proves me wrong and has a good game though!

About 30 Bhoys walked past me earlier at the Balmoral, all black, one was carrying a huge banner must've been about 6ft long poles, how is he getting that in.
