I don’t know who the oldest poster is on Hibs.net, but you’d need to be at least 85 or thereabouts to have been at this one!

I wonder who is the oldest poster? I’m sure we have some octogenarians within the ranks, but any nonagenarians?

First game when I was five 81 years ago. Remember nothing about the football.

I'd imagine there's a good chance my grandfather would have been at it and possibly my dad, although he'd have been pretty young. I've got a Hibs-supporting uncle who'll be 90 next year, so he'd probably be more likely than my dad to have been there.

Not sure about this particular game but my dad still talks about going to see Hibs away in the late 40's/early 50's, cup game at Ibrox in particular. He was 18 years for the 1948 championship decider in the link above.

I remember once showing my grandad that film and he vividly remembered the one-man band on Albion Place. He was probably at that game.

Might be wrong but I have seen the match footage before IIRC it was a 5-0 win versus St Mirren in March 1950 and the last game of that season Rangers 0 v 0 Hibs Rangers won the League by one point Hibs finished second with a 20+ goal goal difference over Rangers and was the first time the FF failed to score in a game the Iron Curtain defence held out probably helped by the Ref 😀
Watched by a crowd of 115000 the highest UK attendance since the end of WW2

Wasn't there. It was a category A game and I wasn't willing to pay the shilling and 5 pence

Had planned to go but I was stuck without transport because my mammoth had a sore toe and wouldn't leave the cave.

Not at the game but saw the film in the 195os. Pretty sure it was Bill Heeps of the Dispatch who took sports films to various clubs and shows. The one man band was still on the go when I started going to ER.

What with the rations still in place at the the time, I didn't have enough left for petrol that week.

Otherwise I would have been taking my old Roadster, as per usual
