Banged the back of his head off the post in the first half when going down. Absolutely horrible noise.
Got to wonder how his club (and I apply this across the board) can decide a player is fine in a couple of minutes when they get a knock like that.

Modern goalposts are made of hollow aluminium so aren't too hard; one of the reasons for using that material is it's less likely to cause injury than steel or wood.

Still not pleasant to hit but probably sounded a lot worse than it actually was. I think it was his upper back and neck that took most of the impact rather than his head. It was definitely that area he was holding as opposed to the back of his napper.

I think it may have been against the Rangers game but SDG took bad head knock and was physically sick on the pitch. How the heck he continued that game with the consent of the medical team I have no idea.

Don't know if you are talking about the cup final. But SDG's collision with Lewis Stevenson in that game was absolutely sickening, SDG was going full pelt and practically subjected the side of Lewis's napper to a diving header.
Never mind SDG ... How the hell Lewis wasn't knocked unconscious by the blow, never mind got up and played on, is absolutely baffling ... the wee guy must be made out of bloody granite :greengrin

There is an excellent thread explaining how hard Lewis is lol. When I was taking pics the Saints keeper looked away with it to me. He never had much to do so we could guage if he was Ok or not

It sounded horrific. It didn’t look as bad as it sounded on the replay.

Interesting discussion with the pundits post match after the Spurs vs Man Utd match. There was a suggestion that Spurs’ reoccurring injuries might be to do with Ange rushing players back. Gary Neville was adamant that managers would never ignore medical advice (though he really only had one manager so he doesn’t have a great wealth of examples here). Defoe countered that when he was at Spurs AVB insisted on sitting in on every scan, etc. and absolutely put pressure on medical staff and players to make a certain decision in terms of an injured player playing.

If it wasn’t for him hearts would be out cup. Awful for the hearts goal and then somehow managed to let 3 pens in that were easier to save

He’s had a very good season. But it depends what youre looking for in a keeper; what we have at the moment is 3 centrebacks who are charged with dealing with everything outside the 6 and letting the keeper concentrate on shot stopping. I dont think we change our defensive style when its clearly working for us.

Whenever i watch St Mirren im struck by how big and physical their back 3 are, it would surprise me if Hemmings is actually that high risk style anyway, looks more like a stay on his line type most of the time, similar to what we do, although I don’t watch them enough to know really.

If he fits our system ive heard worse ideas than bringing him in to provide competition with Jordan next season. Last year of contract with Boro so probably available cheapish, knows the league and is appparently settled up here.
