Atmosphere is often good at Tynecastle.
Usually created by the away fans right enough.

The self aggrandising of their club, and particularly the “atmosphere” at Tynecastle by Hearts, their fans and media admirers falls down when the actual reality of a regular match day atmosphere hits home.
I’ve no doubt that on occasion there has been some cracking atmospheres at Tynecastle - enjoyed a few myself on derby days when the noise is never louder than that from a raucous away end.
It’s no better or worse than Easter Road, Tannadice, Pittodrie, Fir Park etc who all enjoy some lively occasions. And like Tynecastle, it’s often the visiting fans who are responsible.
Everyone in Scotland knows the superlatives surrounding the “famous atmosphere” is just Hearts being Hearts and we can just laugh it off.
I wonder how many football tourists say, have visited Tynecastle on the back of the overblown and pompous sound bites and have left scratching their heads in the reality that it wasn’t any better than any other ground of similar size?
It’s interesting that you never actually hear anyone visiting Tynecastle for first time raving about it.

funny, but when you put the two most self obsessed, miserable and deluded groups of fans together in a pink bus shelter what do they expect?

:agree: grumbling and rusting sweetie papers.
The only time i ever remember thinking they were properly loud was during Romanovs time, when they were regularly knocking 4 goals past us in tax avoidance-fueled dominance, and any group of fans can get full of themselves. I think most of their regular match going fans know the score, Tynecastle is a sterile dump. (Occasionally one of their deplorables has one wrap too many gets excited and runs on the pitch to attack a hibs player before realising hesa bit feart and then pretends hes been slapped by caspar the friendly ghost).
The immediately pre-Covid lockdown derby at ER when they dismantled us pretty badly i also remember thinking they were loud, but that stood out because it was so unusual for them. And when youre winning 1-3 in a derby any decent sized away crowd will sound like that.
Its the BBC obsession with the atmospheric home cauldron trope thats really weird.

The same game where Hearts supporters themselves are saying the atmosphere was dire.

Interestingly enough, the quote you are attributing to Wimmer is one he hasn’t actually said.
A headline conjured up by a bored Record journalist. Didn’t see any direct references to incredible atmospheres in the article.

Not once in that article does he say he was blown away by Tynecastle, what rubbish...
I don't think a German is going to get his knickers in a twist by the noise from 99 per cent of Scottish games.
