View Full Version : Team for Friday

Biggest game of the season so far on Friday not that anybody on here seems to be talking about it.
Presumably same again as Youan and Newall won't be fit and Manneh is getting up to speed and will probably be on the bench.
Bowie for Gayle probably the most likely change if any.

Ayr are a decent side and shouldn't be underestimated, especially on their patch. Scott Brown will have them up for this as they know it's an achievable scalp on TV. As strong a side as possible for me which probably picks itself assuming no one new is back from injury.

He has.

Stick with same team.
Ayr are doing really well and they'll be relishing the chance to play a Premiership team at home under the lights. We need to stay calm and hopefully our superior players do the business. An early goal would be ideal.

Bowie in for Gayle if we’re happy enough with where he is physically. Same team otherwise.

Agreed. Gayle looked knackered from the 1st minute at the weekend. Perfect opportunity to give Bowie at least 45 mins.

Would be looking after Bowie. Wouldn't give him more than 30 minutes.
Manneh hasn't played since November so he could do with the game time.
The truth is Ayr are nothing better than awright and if Hibs play as they did on Saturday Ayr will make mistakes and will struggle to score.
On Saturday they had Hearts 4th keeper in goal, a good few decent ex SPL players outfield in McMann, Murphy, McLennan and Oakley with another two, Hastie and McKinnon coming off the bench leaving Devlin sat there much like he was at Hibs.
I have liked their young Romanian midfielder Marco Rus on the occasions I've seen Ayr on TV this season but he was on the bench at the weekend.

This could be a very tough tie indeed. Ayr's home record is on a par with Celtic's this season. I think they've only dropped points twice at home in the league so far. They are in the Championship yes - but they lead it and that's still a very impressive home record regardless.
I'm sure SDG will have the team fully psyched up and believe we will carry the day - don't expect an easy ride though - will be very happy to squeak through by the odd goal in normal time.

Play our strongest team and we scud them.
I don’t think it’s a sensible game for a first appearance so manneh should be on the bench and come on later.
I also think starting Bowie is too big a risk but maybe give him the second half. Same team for me.

Bowie & Maneh in for Gayle & Levit. Or Maneh in for Campbell if he’s more of an attacking midfielder.

Strongest team. It has to be. If the game is won then bring folk on.

It’s not a game to even contemplate leaving folk out. There isn’t any need to and he wouldn’t anyway.
Apply ourselves properly and we win the game.

We made big changes against Kelty and look how that turned out.
Strongest team to start the game please. We don't play St Mirren until the following Sunday so there's a decent break.

I’d be tempted to start Bowie. I feel Gayle is better off the bench. But would be happy with either. Other than that, same team as Saturday.
We’d have a really strong bench if Newell, Ellie and Manneh are available

No Newell, Youan or Manneh available tomorrow.
I'd start with Bowie in for Gayle because I think his physicality could be important.
That apart, it has to be the same team as started against Aberdeen.

I was reading the other day about him not being good to go due to the Danish league having been shut down. Guessing it’ll be that.

Because he hasn't played since November which is when the Danish season shuts down.
Like Bowie, we don't want to risk breaking him.

Get the impression Joe injury more serious than being made out. Is he back training?

Yeah, Newell back with the main group next week. Could be on the bench for the St Mirren game on the 16th but get the feeling he will need an extra few days so back for the Cellik game on the 22nd.
Ekpiteta probably back for the Dundee Utd game on the 26th but on the bench.
Fingers crossed for no injuries tomorrow.

While it's no guarantee of how players will be on the night, I get the feeling David Gray will have been instilling the message of work hard, no complacency & don't underestimate the opponent.
A huge collective effort & let's get one step closer to a trophy
