Ignore the result , the attendance at the game was nearly 48000. Thought it would show the young ones what the old place looked like with a huge crowd.
Wish Pathe had covered the Naples game rather than STV.

Some tackles and brave goalkeeping at both ends, nae playacting about getting injured either!

Raith away were usually bad news for us in those days. I was at a cup match there in 1955 I think.Saw us off 3-1 pretty easily.Think it was a replay.

No problem Billy love looking at any old stuff. They would have been digging out the baseball boots for these conditions in those days. One of my dad's workmates contacted STV in the 70s about the Naples footage but was told it was not to be found in the archives along with other football footage. I am sure the Hamburg game was covered by STV as well. Wish Tom Hart had allowed the Sporting match to be televised.

Missed Naples was still a jambo back then but Hamburg was daylight robbery and Sporting was the best second half display down the slope the last game before the Cave closed that I ever did see would be good to see it again

And then they knocked us out again 2/3 seasons later.

I find the 50s footage incredibly frustrating to watch. I’d love to get a proper sense of what these players were actually like. There were cameras on them but the footage is so badly cut you get no real view of it!

I was busy getting ready for birth at the Elsie Inglis at that time. So I missed the game.
