About this time 13 years ago I was staying in a Hostel in Auckland, New Zealand. I got speaking to a good lad from Bournemouth. We started talking football and he told me about Bournemouth's rise from nearly folding to where they currently were flying high in the championship.

I told him I was a Hibs fan, ran away after a cup final defeat to rivals. At some point I remember laughing off his daft wee jabs of Bournemouth being a bigger club. I think they'd recently taken Ryan Fraser from Aberdeen so he had the valid and scary points that they could attract better players than us. I may have given him that but scoffed at the idea of them being a bigger club. History matters.

Right now I'm on a train to Newcastle to catch up with him and to join the Bournemouth fans at St. James' park.

Things haven't half changed since our initial wee debate. Bournemouth are a bawhair from Champions League places. Hopefully it's for the better of Hibs too, we don't really know yet.

For now anyway, Glory Glory To The Black Knight Consortium.

Doesn't exactly roll of the tongue.

Enjoy your day out.

All the best with the climb up the stairs to get to the away end at SJP.

We were at the game today (Newcastle end). Bournemouth were very good. If we can play like that - would be very happy!

The interesting thing I find about Black Knights is they had nothing to do with Bournemouth's revival and rise through the ranks. Foley et al only reached their 2 year anniversary in December just past.

They have continued that upward trajectory though and improved things. 15th in their first half season, 12th last year and currently 6th. Quite often new owners go in and try to change too much, too quickly (Hibs anyone?) and it doesn't really work out. They seem to have taken something that was already working and made it better. If they can have a similar impact here I think we would all be delighted.

I hope Donegal is ok after that performance yesterday, Newcastle were as bad as Bournemouth were good. I take it there was an imposter in Isak's strip, never touched the ball.

I’m in hiding 🤫😂 .. seriously though..

You summed it up perfectly in it was a case of Newcastle were really poor and Bournemouth very good who deserved the win , putting it down as a bad day at the office 😉 . Newcastle still in the mix for champions league football and a trophy👍
