View Full Version : V Celtic - Saturday 22 February

I’m making some travel plans for Sunday 23 February and insofar as I can see, other than for Sky, there should be no reason for this fixture to be moved to that date.

Even if Celtic are in the Champions League playoff round, the second leg of those ties are due to take place on Tuesday 18 or Wednesday 19 February - so no need to move our game back by a day.

Am I missing anything?

The only potential fly in the ointment is Sky - I note they’re showing Hearts v Rangers the preceding weekend, but don’t seem to have anything for the weekend of 22/23 February. It would be Sod’s Law if this game (which is the pick of the weekend, to be fair) is picked for Sky…anyone know when they’ll likely announce their fixture picks?

I'm also waiting date to be allocated so I can book trains for myself and kids, really would like to know soon as possible as train fares are creeping up each day. Surely with just over 4 weeks to go they should know the date at least.

If you're getting a train on the east coast line, be aware it's a coach from Newcastle to Edinburgh, according to trainline.

It really shouldn’t be difficult for them to publish tv picks 2-3 months in advance. Just shows the contempt for fans. The league should write it into the contract games must be selected 8 weeks in advance

I’d be a bit surprised if it stayed a sat 3pm KO

The game is over 5 weeks away and those TV picks should be announced shortly

Sky are running out of games they can show at ER so there’s going to be some bigger ones that won’t be moved unless Premier take them

Of course, Sky TV and others have no interest in people who want to watch football in stadiums, their only concern is for subscribers watching at home.

I think it's 100% certain to be on TV. The Old Firm against one of the form teams in the league. Surely, will be confirmed soon.

The game is over 5 weeks away. I know ideally you’d be able to have more notice than that however it’s not as if the game is next week

I hear what your saying but it's not just travel arrangements for fans like myself but also arranging time off work if it goes to the Sunday. Do feel that notice should have been given by now for the actual date and time.

Premier still have 2 as do Sky. Sky will probably take one of this game or the derby and Premier will have the other

I have just checked and trains okay from Alnmouth North, so looks like bus stops at Newcastle, thankfully.

And super cheap tickets currently available!

Why does it always have to be sodding lunchtime??? I hate these f'ing KO times !!! ..... What's wrong with a bloody 5pm KO or something like that so folk can enjoy a pre match pint or meal or whatever. These buggers are turning going to the football into a chore. I hate sodding SKY !!!

Yeah, any KO before 2pm is dire for supporters.
Rushing to the game early morning takes away all sense of occasion.
Makes it feel like a duty parade at work instead of the highlight of your week that it should be.

I suppose the flip side is if we win, then folk have got the afternoon to enjoy a few beers celebrating, whereas if it was 5pm on a Sunday most folk would likely head home after the game with work the following day.

Agree it isn't great overall though.

It’s not about you guys - it’s all about the guys say at home on the couch. The early KO gives them opportunity to watch more than one live TV game, maybe even three.

The actual fans? The most attractive fixtures of season moved to the least attractive KO times - pay your money and suck it it up. Nobody will listen to your gripes. The extortionate Subscription TV companies couldn’t care less about you.
