He had so much to do - yet how can it be (surely I was not the only one) you knew he was scoring from receiving that ball? Amazing night.

Dreamy. What a night. Nice very underrated goal from Cummings just before that too. Werent the sheep top of the league at that point too?

Happy birthday Dom!

One of my favourite ever goals. His first touch was almost a pass….then pure Brazil after that. Loved the guy, he “dont care about the rangers” 🇳🇬

Always felt he should have got a cup winners medal for his goal v Raith, a cracker it was too. I know that's not how it works but still.

The very definition of a cult hero for me. He could be almost unplayable and do things no one else on the park could do and then he could look like he had never seen a football before; sometimes in the same game.

I wonder if he cares about Rangers yet? I doubt it somehow.

Mind going through to Dumbarton and he scored a hat trick with the final goal a raker from 30 yards.

Que the conga in that tiny stand - one of my most enjoyable away days!!

Malonga played his part in the very first round when we won the Scottish cup , Away to Raith rovers he scored a screamer , Shame he never got a medal and the likes of Chris Dagnell did

What a guy. Great goal v Aberdeen and started the Scottish cup run at Raith I think? Hated the Huns too. Shame he didn’t get a cup medal

Mine too.

It felt like after a number of lean and unenjoyable years we were finally getting the sort of team we want to watch back.

Malonga was a huge part of that.

Loved him. The epitome of the flawed but gifted star, dripping with character that we love at our club.

I’ve been thinking about why he stood out so much.

It’s probably because your average Scottish footballer is all about muscle, sweat and the will to win. I always got the impression that Dom thought running about like a dafty was overrated.

He used to drift into space effortlessly and rely on his sublime skills.

Brilliant player and I agree he should have a 2016 cup winners medal

The Aberdeen goal was one of the best goals I've seen from any hibs player. Looked like Messi, ran through a team who was sitting top of the league above us as well.

Good player but a massive luxury at times and lazy. No surprise his career went into decline.

Dom is 35 today and has only played 65 games since the 2015/16 season with 31 of those played in 2019 when fannying about in the Canadian league.
A sad waste. I can still picture his sublime goal against Aberdeen in my minds eye. Sat in the East on a freezin' cauld night and it felt like we could beat anyone.

That goal against Aberdeen was pure class.
Raith finish was lovely and best of all he doesn't care about The Rangers.

Loved Dom (Although as his pet, this is implied already).

During that time we signed many players who lost their way a bit. He was another one who was highly rated in their teens and failed to live up to their heights. His first touch was sublime, he could hold the ball up well. When things didn't go his way he easily became disinterested.

A sad waste.

What a ridiculously over the top take. He was a maverick, who played the game on his own terms, not anyone else’s. Not everyone has the same career arc, or wants it. Maybe he’s perfectly happy with his career? FFS i would be, imagine being happy to provide the joyful moments he did?

Don't want to be that guy......but. I thought it was down to horrible defending and backing off rather than anything special Malonga done.

Wasn't even the best goal in that game.

One of my favourite players of that era. We had been starved for so long of genuine footballers for years and Dom was pure entertainment. You never knew what he was about to do and I think that's what made him so great to watch. I just wish he stayed longer but who knows how it would have ended eventually.

Just looking at his career and it's been nomadic to say the least. Spells in France, Italy, Spain, Scotland, Switzerland, Greece, Canada, Bulgaria, Finland and Iceland. He'd give Budgie a run for his money with the list of clubs he played for.

He played 54 games for Hibs which is the 2nd most he played anywhere, we are narrowly beaten by Cesena where he played 59 games.

If i had made it in football (the chances of this happening were zero but just saying) i would probably have been a nomadic player as well. Opportunity for travel, meeting new people, ways of working and training, he probably has had a brilliant time. And i imagine a few signing on fees whether in brown envelopes or not.

I tend to think it was overrated too - ran 60 yards in a straight line with a bit of body strength along the way, and only had to display one bit of (excellent) skill and the finish.

At the time it was Maradona-like and proper exhilarating, mind you.

The joy in the stadium when he scored that goal was off the scale, one of those happy wtf moments. I'll pass on analysing the fun out of everything, one of my favourite goals I have seen Hibs score and I've been watching then a loooooooooooong time.

Gayle was talking recently about the underrated qualityin a striker of not doing unnecessary movements. Until you do. Thats how i see that Malonga goal, hes just running, a couple of feints, daring the defenders running back to do something, one special move and then he pulls the trigger. But he had the whole moment under control. And then we all went mental.

Beautiful.
