He’s out of contract with Sunderland in summer, if they get promotion to EPL, he has no chance of playing for them next year.
If they don’t , he might struggle to play in midfield, for a team pushing for promotion.
We should be trying to sign him on a pre contract, he’s getting better every game.

He’s contracted at Sunderland to 2027 I’m sure. His contract with us is up in the summer.

No chance he’s here next season if you ask me.

Triantis, at times, looks like a really good player. He tends to make his mistakes when he gets a bit too confident instead of just doing what he needs to do.

That said, I think he’s potentially culpable for at least one of the goals today. Not dissimilar to goals at Celtic Park and Dundee, from memory, when he didn’t match a run.

Thought he was very good today. Young laddie with lots of talent who will get better. I see him getting blamed for the first two goals but I don't know why. I haven't seen them back, only at the game but its their main striker who scores all their goals so surely a defender should be picking him up?

I don't agree, think he's played well last few weeks but also has shown he can play like that with Newell and Kwon. Killie away he was unplayable, sure he had both of them next to him.

I think it's more down to him playing his first season ad CM in his career so as the season has gone on, he's learned and figured it out more every week.

We look worse on the ball without Newell imo. Feels like Triantis is a one man midfield at times which also makes him stand out more, Newell helps and does a lot of the things he does well also, so it's not as noticeable with the two of them in there

He's been very good in the last few games and was excellent today. But at 21 and seemingly getting better all the time even if Sunderland did want to offload him I have a feeling there would be quite a lot of interest, not just from Hibs unfortunately.

Definitely improving. Still makes a lot of poor choice of passes and lacks pace which will likely be why he is at Hibs level. He is a clever young footballer and his confidence is growing.Defo more to come from him second half of the season

I’m hopefully we get him permanent

He’s been brilliant the past month or so, but has he been head and shoulders above everyone else to the point a team like Sunderland will think he’ll start for them? They’re 4th in the championship, 3 points off the top and going for promotion.

I think if they’re brining in a centre mid, it will be someone expensive who they class as quality

I’m hoping there is some Scottish ignorance and they don’t count him doing well here as particularly impressive

Only concern would be other teams take notice and bid more then we can

I get you, I just think it's more down to him being more comfortable in the role as every game passes.

I think a fit Newell and Triantis could be very decent together, I just don't know how many times we've seen a fit Newell this season as I'm pretty sure a bit like Boyle he's been carrying injuries since the start of the season.

Think Triantis could be a very decent playmaker from deep. Lovely range of passing and very comfortable on the ball, just struggles defensively/tracking runners

Was talking to a mate who is a season ticket holder at Sunderland. He reckons Triantis is very far down the pecking there and will be even further down by the end of the January window. They've already secured a loan player from Roma with an option to buy and word is that they are going to push the boat out with more signings to push for automatic promotion. Might fly in the face of the received wisdom here but my mate reckons this has the look of one of those 'undisclosed fee' transfers and there's a strong chance they will be looking to offload him come summer.

Of course maybe not to us but he does seem to be enjoying his football with so here's hoping.

Sunderland will be getting back a better player than the one that left.

We have had quite a good reputation for loan signings in recent years, and while it’s always disappointing when players return home after a successful spell, that good reputation is one where a lot of clubs and players will look upon a loan move to Hibs as an attractive proposition and one that can work well for all parties.

I’d love to see this one made a permanent mind you.

I don’t think the ability has been in question all season. It’s cutting out the mistakes which are becoming less now. Biggest improvement he needs to make is off the ball, still has a tendency to switch of when and drop runners in and around the box.

Goal yesterday was unbelievable. The way he covered the ground once he nicked the ball and just powered away from them wasn’t something I’ve seen from a Hibs midfielder in a long time.

I think they would be very daft not to notice that he is a midfielder now. I also doubt they would have loaned him to us to be used as a midfielder if CB was their plans for him.

As another poster alluded to above, we should enjoy him this season because it’s very unlikely we see him return, however his progress here hopefully gives us a lot of credit for Sunderland and similar clubs to loan to us in future.

We are a step above EFL league 1 teams and championship clubs won’t want to loan to their competitors, so we should be in prime position to loan decent championship players.
