View Full Version : Why have I never...

Anything light hearted that you care to admit to not liking, never watched or never tried etc?

I only tried scampi fries earlier this month for the first time - absolutely loved them btw!

I've also never really got the whole "friends" fascination. I'm 35 and most friends/acquaintances my age are disgusted that I can't recall their references

Good idea for a thread.

Going to the cinema would probably be mine. I've obviously been to the cinema but since I turned about 25 you could probably count on 2 hands how many times I have been and of that the vast majority will have been with the kids. It's just not something my wife or I would ever choose to do it we have time with just the 2 of us. I remember there was a load of hilarity a few years back when Michael Owen said he didn't like films (and I know he was extreme) but I kind of got him. I don't mind watching a film but I don't have to see something the day it comes out, I can happily wait weeks or months to watch it and if I miss a 'must see' I can't say I'm all that bothered. If I have a free evening going to the cinema would be way down my list of things I'd choose to do. One of my best mates does a full on Poundland Barry Norman in our WhatsApp group every time something new comes out. Fair play to him if it's what he is into but I'm just not that ersed; if I get round to something and like it then great, If I don't then I don't really care.

I've also never eaten at Wagamama. If I leaned far enough out my bedroom window now I could almost see one but it has just never appealed to me. Same with the likes of Nandos. If I'm going out for a meal then I want to go out out. If I want something quick and cheap(ish) then I'd rather just grab a McDonalds or something.

I'm another vote for Friends. Saw a bit of a thanksgiving related episode many years ago. That's my lot.

Gavin and Stacey. Drew the big viewership this Xmas. Never seen an episode.

I adore film and tv but there are some films that people go on about as classics and who are regularly in the running for best film ever, the more people go on about them the more I refuse to watch them, I can't even tell you the reason why, I just know it's never going to happen, the list includes Shawshank Redemption, Schindlers List, Titanic

I've got a few TV shows that I'm like that about, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Fargo to name but a few.

Used Linkedin is another for me.

It's close to obligatory in my line for work where both self promotion and indulging the self promotion of others is expected but I just can't do it. I get sent stuff from it all the time and I want no part of it.

Other than injecting heroin or other hard drugs, I'm struggling to find anything I've not tried at least once.

There's lots of things I've tried but didn't like that I could list, but that's not what this thread is about.

Maybe I should start a thread about things I've really tried to get into but couldn't for one reason or another.

Likewise.

Never been to Spain or any of its islands.
Nando's.
Wagamama's.
xG stats.

There's actually a surprising amount of things on this thread that I haven't got involved in either.

Don't think I'll regret much in life but think that's something I'd have liked to have done. Too old now. Getting flung from one now would probably end me.

Never tried any drugs that haven't been prescribed, so long as you don't include passive smoking at an Eagles concert in the 1970s.

Probably plenty for me, some mentioned on this thread like gavin and Stacey, and never trying coffee.

I’ve never gotten the bug for travelling. I know people who are always away on weekend breaks across Europe, love trying new cultures, even just getting a drink in a foreign pub. I genuinely am not interested at all (all power to those who are btw), I wouldn’t get excited by that at all. Even places in the UK, I was once working down near London, and my colleagues were all for going into the city and trying a few pubs and some sightseeing before getting the train home, I said I’d rather get up the road and quite happily got the train back up myself

Never drunk coffee, rank smelling.

Don't get hot drinks at all, backwards imo.

Never tried fags or non prescription (medication) drugs.

Not a fan of film or cinema, I'll watch stuff but I absolutely don't get when people are excited for a film. I doubt that when you're dying, you'll suddenly regret not watching a Marvel film.

Comic books and adults who like them?

Family guy and such like.

Ski'd - this one is a regret, I'd have liked to try it.

Never tried horse riding but what happens after drunken nights at the “disco” stays at the disco 🤮

Ive done the donkey rides at Porty beach around 14 stones ago 😀

Been to a show at The Edinburgh Festival.

I'm going to be totally honest and say I don't even really know what the Festival is. It seems to be totally overshadowed by the Fringe now and has been for the entirety of my lifetime. When I see the description of the 'biggest arts festival in the world' I never know if they mean the Festival, the Fringe or both combined.

Aside from the odd advert for something at one of the theatres I don't think I'd even know the main Festival was on whilst you can't miss the Fringe.

I reckon a huge number of people in Edinburgh will never have attended anything at the festival proper. I certainly haven't.

I have a lot of similar ones with the rest of the board and this is one. I’ve never eaten a mushroom and I know for a fact I never will.

Also only recently eaten scampi fries and loved them. Likewise Guinness, I thought I’d hate it but had my first pint of it earlier this year and loved it.

I’ve also never smoked anything, be that a cigarette, a joint or a vape. And uve never watched Gavin & Stacey and have no desire to.

I remember being force fed fish fingers by my uncle in the mid 90s. Since then I've never touched fish other than the odd try when the wife or kids get a chippy, especially a seaside one

I'm another one who's never had a cup of tea or coffee, the smell turns my stomach, and hot drinks in general just feel wrong to me. Same with smoking, never smoked anything, the smell makes me gag. Oh and Cheese, I was very badly sick after a cheese toastie when I was around 5 years old, and haven't been able to eat cheese since.

I was huge into music in my teens and very early 20's, I would go to countless gigs, I had 3 guitars, the whole shebang. IMO, music died in the early noughties and I never went to another gig, sold all my guitars, I listen to zero new music these days as, IMO, it's all **** (Apart from Flook, I love them!). Just completely kicked music out of my life apart from playlists from music I enjoyed back when I was younger.

I've never been on any social media, I read reddit from time to time but I don't have an account. No Facebook, no Twitter, no Instagram or Tik Tok. Apparently I had a myspace back in the day but I have no memory of it.

Last but not least, I've never seen a good looking Hearts supporter. Ever. Whenever the camera pans to the fans after they score I always try and spot one but to this day I've never managed it.

It adds pretentiousness and self importance to the mix. Awful stuff.

I rarely listen to new music these days too as I think majority of today's music is rubbish. More into older music.
