View Full Version : Gayles goal

Poetry.
I hadn’t realised that it was Gayle himself that won it at the sideline with an incredible effort and backheel, and still managed to get into the box and have the nous and energy to make the perfect finish. Absolutely spectacular effort. Triantis and Nicky contribution, just a great goal.

The finish was exceptional as was the cross. As said Gayle worked hard to get the ball and then made such a clever run. Like all good strikers his last step before hitting it was just slightly slower allowing him to get his feet right and time to think. He looks a physical wreck when moving around the pitch but could be a very useful 10-15 minute sub especially when Bowie returns

Such a cool finish from an experienced head.
Gordon was on course for the MOTM and it was going to have to have been something special or just clever as in Gayle’s deft touch to beat him.

An absolute joy to watch that goal. On the replay that is, I was jumping around too much when he scored to really take it in…
Don't know what the exact stats are but his goal contributions per minute on the pitch must be very good.

I know there was a bit of a debate on if we should sign him if his body is struggling, but today is a sign that it was the right decision if he can keep contributing some magic finishes like that to give us a handful of wins over the season.
You cannot teach the type of finish that he's made today, you either have that in your locker or you don't.

Brilliant from Gayle to keep it in play
Cadden and Triantis dominated well to switch play to Nicky Cadden
Nicky puts in an absolutely incredible cross
Gayle, who ran the width of the pitch to get on the end of it, still has alot to do due to the position he’s in and the bounce but takes it absolutely brilliant.
Brilliant goal

So true. Beautiful finish, just the slightest of touches but it's perfect. Gordon no chance.
Hopefully SDG sits him down, explains how he'll be used, offer up coaching incentives and persuade him to stay on for another season.

Sets up Rocky for the third v Aberdeen.
Bullies 2 Motherwell CBs for Joshs goal there.
Pivotal goal at a key time v County.
Now this. We all lose our youthful vigour at some point but you never lose the nouse. He then gives a wee Hibee his top at FT. Class from Dwight, absolute class 🇳🇬

Understand he is already giving coaching to our young strikers with Bowie under his wing. Small steps but if he can pass on just a little of that talent his legacy, from the briefest of times at the club, could be enormous. Fingers crossed

Thing is….it kind of was “put on a plate”. The delivery is utterly outstanding and the pace of the ball was already there.
It just needed guided in. And Gayle knew that and used his undoubted class to do so. He knew it was “on a plate” where as others would have tried to add pace to the ball
Movement too 🤌🤌🤌

It's also the intelligence and ability to guide the ball to the back post when his momentum would see most players going for the near post.
