I was in the FFL getting some chips before heading up to our seats in the FFU (they don't do chips up there!)

Anyway, I noted that everything downstairs had been freshly painted including the names for the 100 Club. I was wondering what had happened to those names but have just received a pic from my nephew which shows all the names in the new FF hospitality.

But it made me think, what was The 100 Club all about, I can't remember. I know we had to contribute £100 but what for?

It was launched when the club decided not to move to Straiton in the mid-90s and was to help towards paying for redeveloping Easter Road. Hibs 100 they called it.

When I first started supporting Hibs there was also something called the 50 Club. Can't remember what it was or whether it still exists. As a kid I think I assumed it had something to do with our greatest era in the 50s!

There was also Club 86.

My grandad was a member/contributor and they always got priority for tickets along with ST holders (I think shareholders also got priority for a while).

Dougie Crombe who was chairman at the time , and also a real Hibby gentleman told me that £80,000 had been raised. At £100 per go that would have been 800 contributers however many individuals and supporters clubs paid in more. The Linlithgow Hibs SC donated £250 if I remember correctly.

Mr Crombe also said that that covered the expense of the kitchen being fitted!. It was some place when it first opened and ran as a restaurant for a while.

The 50 Club was based behind the West stand on the other side of the road from the ground. Was mostly well off business men, but not exclusively, who were members. Hibs offices were in the same building.
I do not think it still exists as a 50 club.

When I Was younger I paid into the 100 club. Recently I was wandering what happened to the board with the names on , so I was pleasantly surprised when I went to hospitality and saw it in the stairway with my name on must admit gave me a bit of satisfaction that it was still there and my kids could look at it in the future hibs forever :flag:

I'm on it too. I still have the letter from the Club confirming they had received my £100. The Hibs 100 lapel badge is among my Hibs memorabilia.
