Really looking forward to seeing him back soon, and we are entering the period where we were told he was being earmarked for potential return.

With an upturn in form, Bowie being back available would be a huge boost to our attacking options for the second half of season.

End of January i thought? So Aberdeen home is the realistic target game. We still have 7 games between now and then, another reminder that final league position in this country is weirdly dependent on how well you play in the freezing cold on rubbish pitches.

Bowie coming in and hitting the ground running would be a huge boost. We look like we have found a way to get results and starting to get belief back but injury a couple players could set us back. Having Bowie as an option would really help.

Im a bit wary about Bowie as there seems to be an expectancy he's going to be the main man, pick up where he left off and hit the ground running. I like the cut of his jib from what I've seen so far. But he's only played a handful of minutes, is still a relatively young player and will be coming off the back of a bad injury. We might not see the best of him until next season once he's had a full pre season.

He's going to need a month or so getting back into it too. Might not see his best till March/April.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do though.

I would play him sparingly when he comes back to protect him from any potential further injury and build him up slowly to a full game within a month of coming back. Maybe back to full match fitness by the end of March

I'm in the camp of not getting too excited too soon here. I thought he looked absolutely quality before he got injured, but he needs time to get back to that level.

I reckon if we get a full 90 mins out of him before March we'll be doing well, count him as a new signing for next season once he's had a preseason in him.

Hopefully we don't find ourselves needing to overly rely on him when he's not quite ready yet.

I agree 100%. The lad will be coming in off the back of a serious injury and will need a fair bit of time and patience I would go as far as to say it might be towards the end of the season before he will be up to speed.

Hopefully he’ll be somewhere near full fitness for when the internationals come around again in March, so he’s strong enough to withstand Scotland ******* him up again.

He's on the grass but not doing full training. Gray keeps saying they're trying to manage him so he doesn't do too much too soon

We don’t have any choice for competitive internationals.

We don’t have any choice for competitive internationals.

Players can decline the call up, it may not help their future international prospects, but it's not mandatory to represent your country. Equally, if you are there, no one can make you actually play. You can tell them the hammy is tight or whatever, they're not going to force you onto the pitch.

People who know more could maybe enlighten me about this. He's been out for months with a torn hamstring? At the start of the season what was his injury then, as Gray was playing him sparingly before he got injured? In the interview that I saw with Gray recently he was asked if the operation that Bowie had is going to prevent the hamstring problem from recurring again, he said well that's the theory or something like that. Before he was injured I thought Bowie looked really impressive, the only player at the time that was giving us a bit of hope for the rest of the season. But I really hope he isn't another of the really injury-prone players we have signed in recent years. Will look forward to him coming back into the first team because I really liked what I saw before he was injured, and if it takes time, which you would expect it would, fair enough. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Bowie a hamstring injury that was treated with rest, physio etc. Fulham sold him to Hibs in the summer and we used him sparingly but the same hamstring tore when playing for Scotland U21's requiring an op that he probably should have had when he sustained the original injury.

Both Bowie and Ekpiteta should be back playing in a months time.

It will be and a good one at that

A month and everyone should be back.

After the St J and Rangers games the current walking wounded will get a long waited rest for a whole week before the first game of the 3rd round of fixtures.

I agree, hamstrings take a long time to fully repair. If he has undergone surgery he should not be allowed to play until next season or he will risk a reccurence, but probably difficult to tell the player as he will feel it is 100%.

He’ll be playing this season. He’s had surgery and his back in training, Gray saying he won’t be rushed but will be back soon. No way it will be next season unless he has a set back.

I don’t think he’ll be himself this season.

We’ll get someone who makes a contribution of sorts, but in terms of starting games and being fully sharp I think it’ll be next season.

This season already we’ve seen a big difference between “fit to play” Elie Youan and “actually fit” Elie Youan and there was a good 3 months between the 2.

I don't think we'll get a full contribution from him this season as I expect us to manage him very, very carefully.

However even having him as an option as an impact sub and potentially ready to start at the business end of the season then being fully ready to go for a full pre season is a welcome positive

If he's back in full training now you'd imagine he will be fully up to speed come March. Fingers crossed anyway.

To be fair I think the fans were being patient and understanding

It was Scotland who decided to play him and start a match far to early on in his recovery

I really hope hibs told them what a disgrace of a decision to do that was

It wasnt just one match either, two u21 games in five days punctuated by sitting on flights to Malta FFS when we were supposed to be managing his minutes because of an injury to the same hamstring.

After Saturday Hibs only have 2 league games before St Mirren on the 16th February so both Bowie and Erik Potato will be back playing by then and any players brought in during January will have been with us for circa 3 weeks.

Not necessary I would've thought.

Not in terms of winning the Clydebank match, but should be a relatively easy comeback compared to Ross County away or Celtic at home.
