As someone who lives locally it will be nice to see this back open, currently a complete eyesore. Hopefully they allow football colours.

Given who’s opening it I wouldn’t get your hopes up for it being a football pub. Probably be quite nice though!

True. But even if they allow colours in then might be a nice venue for a pre-match lunch for the more discerning fan!

They'd be off their rocker to not allow fans in. Its a bawhair away from the stadium. Also right round the corner from me so class news.

As a local i'll welcome it back again but i'll believe it when i see it. Inside is a derelict shell currently used as a store for a joiner or builder. It will take a very lot of money to get it back to habitable state. Fingers crossed though.

Didn't Ronnie Simpson own or run it, in the 70's?

It's haunted.
Last time I was in I got rid of a lot of their spirits! 😁

Used to meet pals in the Coopers Rest before games at ER prior to Ronnie Simpson being involved there. Not sure whether he owned it or managed it.
It was an excellent pub back then.

My old man used to drink in the footballers arms/ shades. He also worked behind the bar for both owners too.
2 joabs Harry. :greengrin
He'd never drink in coopers, because it was a penny or two dearer. :greengrin
I've no idea how he'd cope today with the price of beer.:faf:

My Nana and Granda lived 3 door down from the Coopers Rest in Lorne St in the 1970s and 80s. It was Grandas local..they had moved to Bonnington Road by the time I was old enough to go in a pub, so never went in. I’d love to have a pint in there “in his memory” if it re-opens. Despite being an Airdrie fan, he took me to my first Hibs game.
