Just reading about Jamie Vardy's record of scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League matches, made me think about the record in Scotland and also for Hibs. Anyone know?

Don't know about the Scottish record but Garry O'Connor scored in 5 in a row I think. Towards the end of Bobby Williamson's first season in charge.

Don't know the exact details but I'm gonna guess that Gordon Smith would be a candidate, having scored 360(?) times for Hibs.

Anybody have a bit of time on their hands to go check? ;-)

Marco Negri for Rangers must be a shout. Sure he scored in 9 or 10 games in a row

Quick Google suggests Van Veen/Viduka have both scored in ten games consecutively.

Griffiths scored six in a row for us in 12/13 as did Riordan in 04/05. Can’t think of anyone off the top of my head that would’ve beaten that in recent years.

Edit - Actually looks like Van Veen beat it and scored in eleven, Negri and Viduka both on ten.

In 1952 Lawrie Reilly scored 6 in three days in January and 7 in a week in September.

In 1959 Joe Baker scored 6 in a week in October.

In 1965 Neil Martin scored 8 in three days in September.

In 1968 Joe McBride scored 7 in three days in November.

In 1972 Jimmy O'Rourke scored 6 in nine days in September and then 6 in eleven days in October.

Sorry nothing to do with the thread but interesting stats.

Joe Baker scored in ten consecutive games 1959/60

Highest number of consecutive appearances Joe Davis probably a few penalties in there as well

Played 273 consecutive games including friendlies scoring 46 times and was never booked playing for Hibs at left back

Transferred to Carlisle United where he played 79 games and never scored

Didn't Negri break the record of nine set by our own Ally McLeod?

Didn't Negri break the record of nine set by our own Ally McLeod?

Ally scored in 9 games in a row (11 goals) in March/April 1978 including 4 penalties. Yes, as far as I recall Negri broke Ally's record.

Went on a run of three consecutive goals in 1978

Was an inspirational captain who led Bristol City to a 3-0 win over Bolton in the Associate Members Cup at Wembley Stadium in the mid 1980’s

Yip Celtic Aberdeen and Motherwell

Scored a double against his former club Dundee at ER in a 5-2 win that was the game Ralph Callachan gathered the ball in midfield and went on an amazing slaloming run beating man after man before walking around the keeper and calmly rolling the ball into the empty net

All the while Ally Macleod was standing in acres of space screaming at him ‘ Pass the ball you greedy b#@**** ……Oh! Great goal !’

Sure Ian Murray scored in 5 games in a row from central midfield. One of which a driving run from the halfway line against Dundee Utd at home.

He scored double figures that season :agree: don’t think he scored in 5 in a row though, we did win 5 in a row however.

Was an incredibly up and down season with a few very good runs of wins and a few very bad runs of defeats.

Scored a lot of goals but not necessarily in that order

No one in the history of Hibernian Football Club has played in more games or scored more goals for the club than Gordon Smith and the chances are no one ever will Surely the greatest Hibs player that ever lived scoring 303 goals in 636 appearances excluding friendlies and exhibition matches of which there were plenty

My favourite stat is Hearts thought they had lined the 16 year old Gordon Smith up for a trial but Willie McCartney stepped in signed him on a professional contract and played him as a Trialist in a 5-3 league win at Tiny in which he scored a hat-trick

In total Gordon Smith scored 364 goals for Hibernian

Anthony Stokes scored 14 goals for Falkirk in 16 SPL games in 2006 including the first player to score back to back hat-tricks in the SPL following it up a few weeks later with a third hat-trick

I think Willie Irvine was averaging a goal a game for the first few months of the 83/84 season. Not consecutive but a few doubles and a hat-trick or two in there.

Might be thinking of the wrong player but did he not forget to bring his boots for that game yet still scored 3 in a borrowed pair?

He was a bit of a Hearts fan growing up (lived in Montrose but I think the family were from Edinburgh) but became a die-hard Hibs man in the years to come. He was worried about the reception he'd get from the Hearts support when he signed for them many years later but over 10k turned up to see his debut in a reserve game. Probably a good many sorrowful Hibs fans in the crowd.

Yip borrowed boots was a childhood jambo

I grew up in the sixties and every family member I asked who was the best player they ever saw and the answer all the time regardless of allegiance was always ‘ Gordon Smith son ‘

I remember Akpo Sodje going in a scoring run where everything he did went in (including a lob of the keeper from outside the box that I’m still convinced was an attempt to control the ball). Can’t remember how many in a row though.
