Happens fairly regularly, happened against St J a while back and sure there have been other occasions. We have 4 season tickets in our family and when things like this happen I'm not sure how much if anything I'm saving having a season ticket. But I'd rather see a full or near to full Easter Road so if this is what it takes I'm all for it.

Good initiative and doesn't bother me as a ST holder - but agreed I'm not sure the timing is the most commercially beneficial (I'm not the one running the numbers though and sure Hibs didn't just pick the game randomly so probably have their reasons).

ST holder, I’m delighted we do this and wish we’d do it more often if the club can afford it. Football is expensive and if we can help some attend, especially a difficult time of year for many, then we should look to do so.
I’d pay more for my season ticket if it helped facilitate this.

No issue from me as a ST holder.
I'd rather 21000 in the ground with a few thousand walk ups at a fiver than the ground sitting 1/3 empty all for the sake of a few pounds perceived value.
I don't think many ST holders buy their tickets based on the relatively small saving compared to walk up pricing. It's about being able to support the club up front and provide a guaranteed income. Certainly the way I view it as someone fortunate enough to be in a position to do so.

Fingers crossed we can go into that game on the back of a good derby result but even if we don't there should still be a good crowd. We'll be back from a wee Christmas break the night before so will definitely get along to that one.

As far as I’m concerned as a ST holder, you get to commit to the club, everything else is a bonus. I don’t think many of us get a season ticket because it’s financially sounder than buying a ticket for each and every home game

I’ll all for it as a season ticket holder.
With genuinely no desire to noise anyone up, this is a good example of the club not just being about fleecing fans, and doing something for the community.
It’s something that gets thrown at the club a lot and there was chat about it recently, so this is just a wee point to say that it’s not as soulless as it’s made out to be sometimes.

0-0 St Johnstone
1-2 St Johnstone
2-2 Ross County
Losing leads in the defeat to Saints and the 2-2 draw with County.. This only works well if Hibs put on a show and entice the lapsed supporter back in.
Which as you have pointed out we rarely do.
A nod to our charitable traditions though. Hopefully our mascot positions etc are free that evening as well.

No issue as a season ticket holder, but slightly intrigued by the choice of fixture. I’ve always assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that attendances get a bounce between Christmas and New Year with folk off work who might otherwise be working / home for the holidays. If that’s the case, then I might have anticipated this offer being applied to, say, the Motherwell game on 11 January when a lot of folk will be truly skint after Christmas.

It was a while back... about 2 years ago I think so there hasn't been one for quite a while. I was wondering if they'd stopped this with the current ownership.
I hope to get to this but am often away over Xmas/New Year. I get that crowds tend to be higher st this time of year but as much as there are people back 'home' for Xmas there must also be plenty going away as well. I'd probably rather have had this for a game in early to mid Jan or the Clydebank game. But can't complain. Good to see these offers back.

Might add a couple of hundred to the crowd but talk of us getting a sell out or thousands more attending are wishful thinking.
Not so sure.
When we did it against St Johnstone in 2022 we sold over 20K tickets. The next home game we sold 15K.
As an aside I think it's a good game to do it. People talking about inflated crowds over the festive period but I think that is a bit of thing from a bygone age. With pressure on people to spend money at alarming rates in December I'd argue a football match that would usually cost £28 is an easy thing to pass on. Reduce it to a fiver and you'll probably go. Looking at our home fixtures over the festive period there isn't any notable uptick in recent years (derbies excepted so I've left them out as that's the case any time of the year):
3rd December 2023 - v Aberdeen - 16592
2nd January 2024 - v Motherwell - 16796
3rd February 2024 - v St Mirren - 16689
24 December 2022 - v Livingston - 15260
14th January 2023 v Dundee Utd - 18676
14 December 2021 - v Dundee - 13516
22 December 2021 - v Aberdeen - 14314
29 January 2022 - v Livingston - 15480
There's no real obvious upward trend in tickets sold at a festive fixture, indeed in a couple of those examples above it's down on the comparable fixture I have used for reference in January.
I think it's a great fixture to do it at and we'll be around the 20K tickets sold mark.

I was thinking the same earlier today. I’m a season ticket holder, think it’s a brilliant gesture from the club and would like to give a bit more to support the initiative.
Does anyone know if there is a mechanism in place to contribute somewhere to a fund to buy tickets that can be given to those that need a wee bit more help at this time of year????………perhaps via the Community Foundation?? or Hanson/Stevenson Foundation??

Probably only a matter of time before Hibs open South Stand for home fans.

Have we ever had this offer returned as favour to hibs.
Think we’ve gave it to st Johnstone a couple of times. Now killie, has anyone returned the favour?

St Johnstone are very good with family tickets.
IIRC it's one child ticket free with every adult ticket.

This time I think it’s cheaper to take 2 kids than 1 or 0

will be good to see a 1500 strong away support. How many do Killie normally bring to Easter Road?
Kilmarnock have always brought a decent support.
They don’t get great home crowds, but quite a good percentage of those fans follow them on the road as well.

Killie do a family ticket for us. Not as cheap as a fiver a head.
Last season I went and had bought 2 adults and a kid, called the TO when I found out to upgrade to a family (2+2) as it was around £15 cheaper to take the extra ticket.

They had a £5 deal many moons ago. Remember going through on a snowy night, they also had a free raffle for a car. The Killie fan that won it went for a six down the steps when he hit the wet bit 😂

When my kids were younger it was cheaper for the three of us to go to Perth including fuel than it was for me to get into ER. I'm sure it was 15 quid for the three of us

Great initiative but I would be peed off if I was a season tix holder.
I'm a season ticket holder and, along with other season ticket holders I've spoken with think its a good idea.
Increase the home crowd for what will be a very important game, at a time of year when money is tight and might
make the difference as to whether people, especially with kids, will attend. I hope its a roaring success.

Great to see.
Should be a good atmosphere and game.
Wonder if Hibs will do some sort of ticket exchange for ST who can’t make it ? Possibly do it without the usual reward ? But just a chance to free up a seat for someone to attend ?

I was in the ticket part of the site for the first time in ages last week, there is actually a part on there for you to manage your tickets and sell them on the exchange, first time I've ever seen it, not sure of Hibs have actively told us about it and I didn't see it or they haven't mentioned it

I don’t think we’ve ever won when making it £5. Sure a St Johnstone game under Maloney as brutal and finished 0-0

I remember that game mainly for a knee high straight leg studs up lunge on JDH that merited just a yellow from Craig Napier. It was one of the most blatant red card challenges I've seen.
An absolute sickener. For which JDH gets told off by angry Craig.

Wonder if the ticket exchange will open soon. Wonder if the club see more spend in the shop and at the food kiosks at these games. Would love the club to do this against the old firm and ban away fans but it will never happen unless a benefactor made up the difference.

Why would they do a ticket exchange when tickets are a fiver? What would you get back?

There was a fair few on here saying it was not a good idea, and it would not sell very well, fantastic and once more from a season ticket holder, great to see some Xmas cheer being shared around.

I am sure they did it before at one of the games you would get back possibly £2.50. They could give the option to donate your credit to the club so they make money from your seat. Would prefer to see no empty seats. Not all season ticket holders will be able to make it to the game.should have said seat release.

They’re giving you half the amount they’re selling it for and as a fan you’re helping the place be rammed for the game and hopefully contribute to a big win. So would definitely be trying to do it

If an old git like me can find out how to sell my ST on in under a minute I'd say it's easy enough. £2:50 for a minutes effort is a decent hourly rate. Well done to the club on trying to make even more tickets available for a fiver at this time of year.

Smacks of chisseling. Hibs should have offered the whole fiver.
That way both parties, Hibs and the ST holder, are doing it for the benefit of a full house and allowing someone else to come along.

The important thing would be to get as many Hibs supporters as possible into the ground.
You don’t even have to bother to pick up the money , tick a box and it goes to a Hibs charity
