I think the loan rule changed at some point in the last decade where only loans of more than 1 season can play against the parent club which is why for example Paddy Roberts played vs City while at Celtic about 6/7 years ago.

I must admit to having completely forgotten he was still on our books, which says a lot about his impact at Easter Road.
