Hibs were top of the league with 24 points from 13 games after beating Dundee United 2-1 at Easter Road......................

Unfortunately in true Hibs fashion we only won 3 more league games before the split and ended up in the bottom 6:greengrin

I suppose if you want to search for a positive in our current situation the above does indicate that where you sit in the league in November isn't necessarily a great indicator of where you will finish in May.

That was the game Skacel came on and hit the bar.

Everything Griffiths hit was going in that season but he couldn't do it all himself. I'm sure our next game was that game at Dens Park when he was getting hero-worshipped by the Dundee fans. Of course we got gubbed 3-1 to bring us down to earth with a bump.

The issue here is that Hibs traditionally have a barren spell in December and January where points are difficult to come by. That year being a perfect example.

It's our hibernation period. That's why we're called Hibernian!

He's here!

Doyle weighed in with quite a few goals.

We also managed to go unbeaten in all 5 derbies, including knocking Hearts out the Scottish Cup (a minor dose of consolation for the previous season's final). Should have beaten them 3 times had the linesman not been the only person in ER not to see Griffiths' free kick bounce a couple of feet over the line.

Who was manager then ? These years all seem a haze now.

Good player Doyle - bit rough round edges here but always thought he deserved more game time. Great attitude as his career showed

Want to say Pat Fenlon.

I think he played often enough at Hibs, perhaps not in his preferred role as main striker though (Griffiths was doing the business)?

This was under Fenlon, players like Wotherspoon and Paul Cairney were contributing well, maybe Calum Booth at left back.

We looked like a decent side for the first 1/3 of the season.

And instead of building on the good things Fenlon signed Vine, Nelson & Tudur Jones. Plus £200k or whatever on James Collins.

In retrospect underrated at the time as Griffiths was so good. His equaliser v Falkirk at Hampden is remembered fondly. Oh for a striker of his calibre now!

And this time 11 years ago, we had 4 wins and nearly double the number of points we have now. We ended up relegated.

I didn't really believe it before Saturdays game, but we are in very real trouble.

Wasn’t OWJ a Terry Butcher signing?

Nah Fenlon signed him before the start of the season. Just seems like a Butcher signing I know.

Fenlon. We were just about to beat Hertz in the cup with Spoony's wondergoal :greengrin A perfectly judged cannon off some Jambo's arse.

Frightening. The current squad is also worse than the one that relegated us too IMO

Likeable guy Pat Fenlon. Great to see him in the Hibs end for the 2016 final.

It was.

He was very well received by the masses and looked to be appreciating it.

Good lad.
