View Full Version : Disallowed goal
I was scratching my head at the game over who was offside.
Turns out to be gayle, and although he was close to keeper, he didn’t really get in the way. Possibility the ball hit him, but pictures inconclusive. No review of it by sportscene.
Were we hard done by ?

would have been a disgrace had we got a point out of that

We certainly were hard done by. Not by the officials, but by the club.
Deserved nothing from that game anyway.

Gayle touched the ball.

The initial tv pictures looked like it did, but they never showed it back

Yeah, I agree with that, but still it looked like a nicely worked goal and an undeserved point might have been what we need.

Annoyingly it looked like it was going in without gayles touch
Regardless - we’re absolutely stinking
I had left at this point but Sportsound were absolutely creaming themselves that it had to be disallowed. ‘Biscuits’ and Leanne (who?) were desperate for it to be turned down.
It was the one and only positive out of a bad day and was a really nice goal. Shame gayle was there and the ball appeared to hit him. I think it was going in anyway and he didn’t get in the keepers way.

I'm fairly certain it hit him and the goal was right to be disallowed sadly.

Watch Newell console Gayle as the rest celebrate. He knew he had cost us a point by being way offside. Very poor from Gayle as there was no reason to be in that position.

Yeah, I did see that on the highlights.

It hit him. I’m pretty certain that was his only touch of the ball too!

I've never celebrated a disallowed goal so much.
I ****ing hate VAR.

That was my thought, can't mind him getting on the ball at all. Not really his fault, no quality played towards him. Poor to be offside though.

Exactly.
His nickname in England was 🦊 in the 🎁.
Given he was the only one that never reacted his new nickname should be 🐌 in a 🪣.
