Keep hearing from the commentary in numerous games when watching that lot about the fantastic atmosphere at tiny and yet regularly just don’t hear it ….
Last night I thought the place was flat again apart from the Heidheim fans who were vocal throughout the game ..
They know it themselves yet the media constantly brags about how wonderful the atmosphere is in tiny …
Between that and the twenty thousand plus they fantasise about squeezing in , it all just seems to be another myth that’s been created to keep them happy…

They love to big up their atmosphere but it’s only because of how close the fans are to the pitch. Nothing will compare to the Hibs v AEK Athens game for me, i’m 37 so never experienced any older European nights but I have never experienced anything like it anywhere. Electrifying

The biggest myth in Scottish football
Yep, tiny wee pitch with tiny wee stands, not difficult to make a loudish noise when the sound rattles off the rusty tin walls

Why don't they then?

Noisiest single tier main stand in a sub 20k crowd stadium anywhere in the world, famous for it, and don't get me started on how atmospheric it is.

I've never once been there and thought "oh what a noise" and I've seen us lose there plenty times unfortunately. As someone else said, the myth stared when they built the stands close to the pitch in the mid 90's due to lack of space.

That sign was still there when we were in the main stand for the LC semi in 2016!

Mine too.
Also at the Gorgie Road end the pish from the toilets at the top of the terracing dripping through the roof of the exit tunnel. Can’t believe how any of the exits ever passed Health and Safety regulations.
It's an obvious editorial stance by the sports dept of the BBC to bum up anything to do with Hertz. Even when their desks and mics were getting peltered by the rain they barely said a word.

Most noise I heard last night coming out of it apart from the Heidheim fans was coming from Mikey Stewart :faf:

Had the windows open last night in the flat. You would not have know there was a European game happening a few hundred feet away. Place was deid.

I thought it was more like a heady mix of a crowd the size of a pilgrimage to Mecca blended with the sound at the Maracana stadium at it's peak.

so much this… it’s the people setting the editorial stance that dictates how things are presented.
for me this means:
saturation of the Glasgow2 (G2)
- even if they have a dedicated game we are subjected to long interjections with G2 extended updates
- so kids forgiven for thinking little exists or matters outside the G2
- controversy for controversy stake
- you can imagine the angles to pick up on done pre-match
- noising up supporters with rivals pundits covering game
- imbalance with minimal Hibs minded coverage.
so who are the editors? Perhaps if we knew that we’d understand a bit more around their stance

I imagine there's a few groundhoppers who have made their way to the dump after reading repeatedly about this bubbling cauldron of noise under the lights, and been left somewhat bemused and underwhelmed. How embarrassing.

But...but...that can't be right.
The BBC website report said Heidenheim edged out Hearts at a 'raucous' Tyncastle.
I watched it on the telly and it was like a morgue most of the time.

Like Easter Road, Pittodrie, Tannadice or Fir Park, Tynecastle will generate some great atmospheres when the occasions and moments present themselves. Also, like those others mentioned, there are long periods when things are then subdued in contrast, again, subject to what’s happing on the pitch.
Tynecastle is no better or worse than other similar stadiums when it comes to atmosphere, but for some reason they are not prepared to be content with that fact, and have some bizarre campaign to gaslight people into churning out their grandiose boasts.
It works though, so fair play to them for that.

The atmosphere at Tynecastle in nowhere near what it used to be. But this appears to be the case in nearly all grounds in the top league now. Unfortunately, ours has arguably degraded the fastest of them all.

Just more Jambo bs along with it being plus 20k which it isn't. They don't do reality. Having a narrow pitch with fans so close to the touchline shouldn't be confused for having a renowned atmosphere. A fair percentage of them would rather be at Murrayfield.

I know it's as much our job to lift the players as it is theirs to lift the crowd, but we have been given very little to shout about lately. We've been served up absolute crap for years and it has worn us all down.
There were some great atmospheres at ER in the 2014-18 period.

I agree. Those days feel so long ago now. I reckon there's been numerous factors impacting the atmosphere. The performances on the pitch of course being a major one. But certain decisions made off the pitch haven't really done anything to optimize the atmosphere either and have arguably had the opposite effect.
