Good piece by the Hibs Observer on YouTube analysing some of the play in the Derby. Could see clearly watching it that we were going long too often because there wasn't anyone showing well enough in midfield. Very well highlighted in the video and made me feel we were lucky Hearts never took more advantage of the space from some poor positioning. Triantis & Kwon have a bit of growing to do into this set up

I found myself pining for a Paul Hanlon type in the second half, who'd quite often end up as an inside left if we were pushing in a game. We really lack of good ball playing centre half who is comfortable taking us 10 or 20 yards up the pitch - had a good number of those over the years, but we're very much stuck in a rut.

Don't doubt those midfielders aren't showing enough, but it's easy to bog us down and close that space.

Rocky likes to carry the ball up the pitch 😀

Playing long was a good tactical move in my view. Hearts high press had worked very well in their previous 2 games under new coach. Our approach cancelled out any benefit for hearts.

It also recognised the danger of playing along the back line with a defence not too good at it.

Hibs had 7 shots on target. At least 2 of them (over and above the goal, would have been scored on any other day).

I thought it was hearts who were lucky.
