The boy in front of me was watching a clip of what looked like the same flag causing a fight in front of the advertising boards.

I didn't see the whole clip though, maybe someone else did?

Agreed it should be nowhere near an Edinburgh derby.

I refuse to believe though that it's anything other than a small minority of idiots. Same as ours.

They could just as well point out the tricolour with the Pope on it that was being waved at the front of S43 by a couple of teenagers. IMHO no place at the footie!

Watching from Oz I saw this flag just before kick off raised by a 30 something guy, who quickly lowered it and hid it in his jacket when he realised he was on camera.

Shouldn’t be too hard to identify.

Need to get rid of our own muppets first however yes very depressing to see this kind of rubbish at the game. Do people who do this actually think the vast vast majority of both teams fans would in any way be annoyed with that rather than laugh hysterically at it.

Fortunately you mean, no need for this in Scottish society let alone an Edinburgh derby

Somewhere near that kid is a cowardly man using a child as a shield to provoke a reaction. Pathetic.

Exactly. The bairn isn't to blame, he wouldn't have the first clue what it means.

I could have sworn I saw the Dad getting punched out by Hearts fans in the stand, only for this flag to reappear in the middle of the ultras section. Not sure what that was about.

My eyes might have been playing tricks yesterday but I swear I saw a tri-colour with the Popes face on it in the East?

What the **** is wrong with some people?

The derby brings out the idiots in both supports who only attend our games because they're still on the Celtic/Rangers season ticket wait list.

This is what puts a lot of people off football, particulary in Scotland. It attracts flies.

I mean, we're sitting watching a bunch of kids kicking a ball around a park, and this is how it makes some people behave?

Pathetic

I really can't be bothered with any of this ****.

If I wanted my football along with that crap, I'd go through to Glasgow and at least get the chance to see some decent players alongside it.

The dad took a couple of slaps from other hearts supporters. Not sure if this was before or after him using his son. Just can’t imagine what he thought he was achieving.

imagine making a tit of yourself like that in front of your boy.

Hopefully they've slapped some sense into him and he'll think twice next time.

Didn't see the 1690 so wondered WTF that flag was before the game kicked of. Didn't spot and tricolour Irish flags either, but I'm usually just watching the game. Hope they caught the d*** who hit the shy thrower that the ref took the trouble to bring back to the 4th official.

I hate the sectarian blight on Scottish football and indeed Scottish society.

I've said it before but in Scotland the Catholic Church and Church of Scotland have never been closer. There is regular working together at all levels and the respective leaderships recently signed an accord of friendship and cooperation.

The type of people with flags bearing the legend 1690 or a tricolour with a picture of the Pope have no discernible difference between them. There's no religious, theological or cultural thought behind it. I doubt a single one could tell you the last time they went to Mass or a Kirk service. It's a desperate need to 'other' people, to wind the 'other side' up and it's almost certainly borne out of a deep rooted feeling of inadequacy.

Nah, dealing with any idiot is always welcome, don’t ever hold back because someone moans about ‘two tier’ enforcement. This muppet should be investigated by social services!

Well said :top marks

This ***** has no place in either support. Thankfully it is a minority on both sides .... If they want to indulge in this moronic pish there are two clubs just 40 miles along the road who will happily accommodate them.

Did he?

The twitter post shows the Hearts fans around him patting the laddie on the head and others appearing to endorse the flag by clapping and making what the apes consider positive gestures.

Completely agree. I attend a Catholic Church in Leith and we are frequently told about work our Priest has been doing in around the community with the Minister from a nearby Church of Scotland. The fuds with these flags won’t attend any church and will have very little grasp of the history behind what they are spewing.

I fully endorse what you say. However, what might surprise you is that there is similar cooperation in the village where I live…….. in the West of Scotland. As a Church of Scotland elder, I lead our Local Outreach for a number of years & was involved in organising many events to which our friends from the Chapel were invited & many accepted. Reciprocal invitations are also made - the next one to events in the Chapel & Catholic Primary School tomorrow.
However, as you know & suggest, the behaviour of the morons has no religious connections. Most have not been inside a Church or Chapel since baptism - if then.

Unfortunately I was already committed before learning of the event. What I can tell you is that the Priest, Monsignor McFadden, a retired Naval Chaplain, is a great guy who must encourage attendance.
