Derbys. They're a bit different aren't they.

Most weeks I almost have to remind myself who Hibs are playing at the weekend but with the Derby it's honestly on my mind a month in advance, as the days pass and the match looms it takes on more of my thoughts. The entire week before, I'm edgy.

Matchday itself is very different for me too. Normal games I might have a pint or two in a local beforehand, maybe a pint after, and then home. When it's hearts at home, and obviously they're played at all sorts of different times in the day, I'm pretty much drunk before kickoff. After the game, if we've won I'm out for the night.

What's your derby day like and does it differ to a normal home matchday?

Nope ritual is no different, been watching derby games since the 70s so been thru all scenarios...... whatever the result it won't ruin my day 🤣

When the early kick-offs started, I just met folk in the ground and then arranged to meet them in Robbies after. That was fine until Robbies decided to have bouncers and limit admission post-match. Anyhow, have arranged to meet folk after the game, so hope we're be celebrating and we all get in!

Been watching Hibs for 60 years never confident

Even at 0-7 we should have been 2-0 down they were all over us

Nightmare

Will watch tomorrow between my fingers with a close eye on Shankenheid ( loved bossing Fish and Rocky )

Hibs defenders take note

Put the fat lazy bassa up in the air first thing let him know you are there ffs !

If we win, I'm usually buzzing.

If we lose, I very quickly focus on something else to take my mind off it for a while.

Pre match it's a couple of seats on the toilet. If we lose it's head doon the toilet and a media black out.

I don’t have any pre match rituals so derby games are different for me. Once the games kicks off it’s a different matter though 😂.

Pre - expect the worst
Post - tell everyone how I was right, spend the night in a bad mood.

As usual, if we win I'll go play golf and if we lose I'll go play golf.

I’ll have some pre game beers. If we win I’ll have some beers, if we lose I’ll have some beers.

I find this to be a reliable plan.

Bit different for me tomorrow.

I'm away just now.

During game time I will be out for a very long walk without my phone.

FFS this thread is grim. We're at home against the team joint bottom of the league.

Bacon roll & a few beers with the boys in my flat pre-match (hate Sunday early KO’s) then a several pints around Leith post match.

Being away when derbies are on can be a good idea. Last Christmas when we lost at ER we were on holiday with a couple of families who have no interest in football. I decided not to potentially sour what was a great trip by checking the score and didn't do so until we got home three days later. Proved to be the right decision.

Tomorrow I'm going for a walk in the wilderness and sadly I've a feeling this will become a ritual for the foreseeable future.

This is the thing, derbies put you in a bad mood before they've even been played. It's not a pre-match buzz, just downright grumpiness.

I treat it like every day I’ve ever had my whole life. Low expectations and any pleasure is a bonus. I’ll be happily pished

Currently on day 27 of Sober October and Stoptober so a bad result today will probably see me trying to source fentanyl.

Used to be get up, watch “A team that wouldn’t die…” with my old man and then up to Easter road.

Then been the “out all night the night before, no sleep, line and then back on it early doors” hating myself and the team for the majority of the game!

Now it’s up, breakfast and a tram along for a pint. Quietly hopeful

And grim it should be. That's us now only won once in our last 15 attempts against Hertz
