When should supporters step up to the plate and get behind the manager and the team ? …when things are going great ? ….when things are going badly ? …..or all the FN time ?

supporter noun [C] (PERSON WHO ENCOURAGES)
a person (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/person) who gives encouragement (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/encouragement) and approval (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/approval) to someone or something:

Am I happy with the current situation? …absolutely not but the best thing we can do is get behind the manager and team.

By all means let the board and owners know how we view them but unless we get behind the team they will continue to perform badly as they will be so scared of making mistakes that as a result they are likely to make more mistakes.

Confidence is a big part of Sport and constant abuse of individuals or the team in general contributes to poor performances.

A big 90 minutes for all, us included, next Sunday ….so how about us doing our bit too.

Let the team know from the off and for the whole 90 mins that we are solidly behind them, even if things start to go wrong on the day. Cheer them on and banish the Boos for another day.

it might not work but it won’t make things worse !

To be fair i think that's exactly what our supporters have been doing.

Unfortunately you have started a thread on the only thing decent at our club at the moment the supporters. I think the club are very lucky indeed to have a set of supporters so loyal and devoted after decades yes DECADES of under achievements that the club have given us on the park. Heartbreak after heartbreak trauma after trauma. Not many teams get 16,000 most weeks watching the Tom Kite we have to put up with. If the team was half as supportive of the cause then we wouldn't be in the position we have been in for years.

Sold out the derby. Big crowd away yesterday. Support is supporting more than they deserve.

Time for them to give us something back.

How about the serial losers give something back ?

Our Captain has given us about 10-20 performances since he signed all those years ago.

The supporters aren’t the problem.

Our club has the best fans in the world. They still turn up and still fork over their money, fully expecting to be shafted. If we were any other club, the fans would have long given up. But other clubs don't need to consistently put up with what we do. They routinely better us, when on paper they have no right to. It must be great to be a fan of any other club when they have a Hibs fixture on their calendar.

Exactly! Our support has been much much better than the team on the pitch has deserved the past few years. Don't get why these threads keep appearing.

For the last few years, our support has turned up in much greater numbers than the team deserves.

I'm not sure what else we can do to turn round this constant cycle of misery.

I don’t think the opening post is questioning the performance or contribution of the support in any way. I think the point being made is if the fans stop supporting the team, the current *****-show will get worse and could end up compounding the horrific position we are in.
I don’t care if none of the current squad(plus owner/CEO/DoF/etc….) are at the club next season, but for this season, we’re going to have to get behind them to try and help avoid a meltdown relegation.

But what do folk think is happening? We sold out Tannidice away yesterday did we not? Same with the upcoming derby. Folk aren't doing that with the aim of slaughtering the team. They go and support from the off.

David Gray song was out at 2-1 yesterday. Folk want the team to succeed and are showing up in numbers.

That’s not what you were saying at all!! Posting a dictionary definition of what a supporter should be doing is BS!! This lot are very lucky they are getting the support they are and they keep throwing it back in the faces of the huge numbers turning up week in week out.
We know they will get ‘support’ when we turn up next week but we also know the likely outcome with this shower!!

We all desperately want Gray to succeed but we also knew it was very unlikely it would work out and they have proven the majority right in a very short space of time!! He shouldn’t have even been in the running for the job

Sick of hearing what about we just get behind the team etc and be positive.

We do constantly, it's the same old.

The players should want to play well every week no matter who is above them. They get paid to do a job like we all do.

The page needs to change and that means we as fans should Support change as a group.

If the mood on here represents the feelings of the broader fan base, then yesterdays capitulation and goalkeeping masterclass has been the last straw for many. The Hearts game will take care of itself but it’s the other games that will test the patience.

Fantasy stuff.
I would imagine all of the 2700 that travelled to Dundee went to cheer on the team and given the product on the park that turnout is amazing.
