We definitely have a championship level manager, goalkeeper and captain. Not a great combination.

If we can survive till the end of the season then the departure of the 14 of 15 players that are out of contract will immediately improve the squad. We could name a team with players who never play, that are either constantly injured or just utter garbage.

We actually do have some decent players. We are being let down by a very bad goalkeeper who doesn’t make saves or stop goals from happening. Even today the Dundee United goalie has made one or two interventions to stop goals. Did Bursic? No. That’s why we are chucking goals in for fun. We win today with a competent keeper. He has to go.

There are players at every club in the world that are frozen out, thibk you need to get over that. It's the *****ers that we do choose to play that are the real problem.

Problem being we’ve signed more guff on fairly long term contracts.

The two centre halves haven’t made any difference, both on three year deals. Nicky Cadden, three year deal. Iredale only just made his debut out of necessity despite us being terrible defensively, two year deal. We’ll still be trying to accommodate a midfield around Joe Newell and the likes of Chris Cadden will probably end up with an extension.

Unless something dramatically changes, the same cycle will continue.

It's definitely worrying. We are the lowest scorers in the league and the keeper I think unsettles the defence. I can't see much real improvement before January and by that time it might be too late. Hearts won't cuff us though although they may very well win.

How do we know they should be doing better? Maybe what they're doing is as good as it gets from them. I hadn't heard of several of the new players before they signed so I have no idea if they should be doing better. They might just be poor signings.

Fully agree re Bowie. He's the only one I thought looked a cut above mediocre. I feel a bit for Gray with that one.

Because they’re all utter dross and were signed on too good a contract and no one wanted to take them off us in the summer as a result.

Forget about last season when we lost late goals.

This is a new squad, almost a whole new back four/goalkeeper and they still lose late goals. This is no accident. Poor players make bad decisions under pressure and teams know we crumble when under the cosh. They all know it.

I can't see Gray turning this bunch of cowards into proper players. There is always going to be one or two of them each game who will let us down.

It is a while until the January window. Hope we are not cut adrift by then.

The same things are happening again and again regardless of the number of players we bring in.

Every single player we signed in the summer we were told they were a good character. Our version of a good character isn’t what is needed to be successful in this league. The mentality that runs right through the club, including on the pitch, is just weak. That’s what so many of our problems come back to. Two games on the trot we’ve lost a man late in the game and just folded like a bunch of weak, scared little boys.
