I’m looking to have a specific thing made in Hibs tartan, can anyone point me in the right direction of where I can find the tartan? Cheers

is there not a kilt shop on Easter Road?
Kinloch Anderson just off commercial st is the place to go for bespoke tailored kilt/ waist coast / dare I say “trews” stuff tho. Depends what you’re after and price.

McCalls on Leith Walk definitely stock it. Whether they can do something bespoke though I’ve no idea.

Yes Bowdens has been on Easter Road for donkeys. I think its exclusive a hire only business now though.
As far as I know McCalls on Leith Walk are the only place with the Hibs tartan franchise.

Kinloch Anderson are in Dock St. They used to have a shop in George Street and kitted out the royals. Maybe still do for all I know.

I just got a Hibs tartan scarf from Scotlandshop.com. seems they have an agreement too.

I'm guessing you could buy however much of the fabric you need from a supplier and have whatever you need made by someone who does bespoke items.

Are we back to the original Hibs tartan now? IIRC Hibs quietly changed the tartan used on the official products (scarves, etc.) a few years ago, I think due to some dispute with whoever actually owned the rights to the original tartan.

from what I remember the last tartan scarves Hibs released officially had only the merest slither of purple on them. So like WeAreHibs I got one instead from the scotlandshop.com which is much more like the Hibs tartan I expect.

Scotland shop is owned by a certain family, probably no agreement in place 🤣

I have my kilts made by a an excellent kilt maker, Nicola Laird, who works at ScotClans on Sandport Street, about 100 yards from Kinloch Anderson. It looks very industrial and entrance but ring the bell and someone will answer. I have always wanted my kilts made with “military box pleats” and she was the only person I could find that actually knew what was involved. She has taught countless people over the years but I always go back to her.
I’m pretty sure, if you wanted something bespoke, she’d be a good call. Not sure if she’d be able to source the Hibs tartan but I can ask.

Nikki Laird believes she can source the Hibs tartan as she has a connection at McCalls.

Is that a family who own a few tat shops round about the royal mile/bridges areas?
Edit - and I don’t mean tattoo shops.

Went to Bowdens for a Kilt a couple of years ago and wanted the Hibs tartan. They don't stock it anymore. The guy that runs the shop said that a few years earlier Petrie paid him a visit and told him he wasn't allowed to sell it anymore.

”a few” is putting it mildly.
