Thought we played well and unfortunate not to get something from the game … big Marv excellent and great save by Bursic . If we play like that over the course of the season we will be alright .

Biggest positive for me was Hoilett. We've got to keep him fit at all costs. We defended pretty well, Miller aside.

Majority of the team where positive today, Kwom and Triantis standouts, Hoilett looks at real bit of quality aswell, central defence looked solid aswell.

Ekpiteta a rock at the back today, O'Hora didn't really have much to do but felt both and GK have looked good past two games.

Triantis with some nice moments on the ball.

Hoilett with more minutes in him, most crosses in one game this season I'm sure it was mentioned.

Both old firm out the way and don't play either again till December so a chance to try and put a run together and get up the table starting Saturday.

First 30 minutes of second half we totally dominated.

Team structure - we got it pretty much spot on today

Just a bit more composure in the final third is all we needed really

Good to see the team look like a cohesive unit

Loads of positives today.

Bursik was very good today and has been far better last couple. Ekpiteta is a real solid defender and O'Hora starting to look the part more and more. Real understanding forming between the keeper and centre backs.

Shows how rash fans were to write them off (include myself re Bursik).

Known and Triantis are complementing each other brilliantly - Triantis has been superb (another I've had to eat humble pie for).

Hoillet still has class, hopefully Gayle the same - unlucky with the header but found himself on the end of it as he does.

Team in general look organised and robust - big strong team too. Pity Bowie is out as would add that presence up top too.

Still think even with Rudi having a good season so far we are missing a bit creativity centrally but we look far better overall.

Negatives - we haven't put points on the board, as unlucky as we have been at times we need to be taking more points. Only 3 above Hearts who have the worst run of results in the UK. They could be level with us next week. We are more than equipped to have a good run. Really need to as only 1 win to our name so far however you cut it isn't good enough. Need to win next week and really start our season- I think we will

There were lots of positives from todays game, many listed on the thread already.
Biggest positive for me was the managers performance/contribution. I’ve hated the last couple of managers attempts to play the Old Firm but today we had an organised structure, good game plan and positive, controlled approach to substitutions and chasing the equaliser.

We just looked like a team today. Lacked a bit quality in the final third but we did a lot of things well and looked a lot more solid.

Look well drilled
More solid at the back
Midfield generally knows what they’re to do now
Everyone seems to know their roles

Will leave negatives for the correct thread

Overall good encouraging performance

Really enjoyed how we played looked solid and a clear game plan. Midfield played well with Triantis and Kwon solid. Only a matter of time Kwon scores his strikes are accurate. Missed Boyle a bit with his direct running and goal threat. Need to put together a decent run but think we will

We looked well coached, players knew what their roles were and the midfield looked strong. Also we now look quite physically imposing so not getting knocked off the ball so much. Need to keep this standard up for all games now but there are some very promising signs.

Looked like a TEAM.

Can definitely get behind that performance and Motherwell so important now for 3 points and to close the gap.

The shape of the team was solid, well coached, with the players comfortable and confident about where they and their teammates should be.

Kwon and triantis look a great pair in midfield, and aren’t just sitting breaking things up, they’re involved in a lot of our good play.

Both centre backs looked solid, reliable, and has very good games individually and as a pair.

Josh Campbell has had plenty stick, from me included, but I thought he played a really disciplined game today, harried and pressed, supported Myko, and caused rangers players no end of hassle with his work ethic and pressing.

We looked strong and big, without being a team of cloggers. We looked solid defending set pieces and caused rangers some issues with our own. With the height ekpetita, o’hora, Kwon, triantis, myko, Campbell, miller, obita, and Bowie, we present a really challenge to other teams in terms how they mark us at set pieces.

Agree about Campbell definitely did a job for the team don’t get the criticism of him

Balance in the middle looks a lot better with Kwon and Triantis in there. Still not totally sure Newell, Campbell or Rudi (for now) are the missing piece. I'd be intrigued to see Levitt with the other two but it's a solid base we have whilst we try to figure it out.

Goalkeeper looks better. I defended him initially albeit I started to have doubts as well but glad to see he is finding form.

Hoilett looks the real deal, just a shame he wasn't 5 years younger.

We played really well without 3 very important players in Bowie, Boyle and Newell.

Gray set us up perfectly. Love the fact that in the second half he went for it more, including subs he made. If we go in 1-1 different game. Even then their fans getting restless at 1-0. We heve hade a fair few pastings from them in recent years and barely laid a glove on them.

We need to take the positives from today going forward. We need to start winning more games.

Can’t be overlooked that we’re missing our centre forward that we spent a fortune (by our standards) on. We could have been doing with him today, it’s a real blow missing him.

Boyle, as well, would have been a big threat there today. For all our decent play we just lacked quality in the final third.

There was a lot to like about the performance today, we really should have taken something from the game on the balance of play.

The biggest positive for me was the bravery in possession in the second half. We didn’t just kick it the way we were facing, there were players looking for the ball into under pressure and making passes available for teammates.

I thought Gray got it right tactically and if we’d had someone like Boyle to come on instead of McKirdy then we would have had a better chance of a good outcome.

We were missing three big players in Newell, Boyle, and Bowie and yet we still competed. Still a bit thin on the ground in absolute quality but last season three first team players out would have been a disaster.

We’ve played the old firm twice in the league during this run of fixtures. The next eight games are a real opportunity to see where we are at.

Impressed with everyone today. A bad penalty from Myko but it happens to the best of them. We’ve set the standards in the last two games, up to Davie Gray to keep pressing them onward.

Sadly not true. It's only a retake if the player encrouching effects the final outcome. If the keeper parrys the ball and the encourching player clears for example, but if the keeper just saves as it was today, encrouchment means nothing.

Butland off his line too early, maybe. Not sure it was enough for a ref to order a retake v the huns at ibrox.

Positives for me was the sense of standing up to the huns and believing we could get something from them, still a tall order for a team finding its feet. I feel more optismistic moving forward.

Not doubting you but did that rule change?

I remember Rangers being awarded a retake at Easter Road in the mid 90s when Andy Millen encroached the box. Laudrup had hammered his penalty off the bar and Millen played no part in the rebound. Jim Leighton saved the retake as well.

Was the rule different then or was that just a case of Rangers rules applying back then as well?

Fans reacting to what was actually happening on the park rather than being drowned out by mindless drumming. Refreshing.

Depends what you read. Elsewhere I see the following.

“To be penalised for encroachment, the player must have a material impact on the outcome of the kick. For example, this could be when a defender who encroaches clearly prevents a goal from being scored or impacts the ability of an opponent to play the ball”

I have no issues with the penalty not being retaken. I’d never expect one like that to be retaken. You see encroachment at nearly every penalty ever taken.

We are really improving as a team and players are starting to look like they know what they are doing and working together as a unit.

If we had Boyle and Bowie fit I think we we'd have won this one.

Big signs of encouragement for me. Far more convincing, and important signs that the manager is starting to get a handle on things.
The extra time training together no doubt benefited us so lets look forward now.

Think that is a fair point and important. First few games I thought we looked totally disjointed and disorganised. Saw signs of that starting to change at Killie, improvement against St Johnstone and again yesterday. Accounting for who and where we were playing I thought yesterday was the best we’ve looked. I’m not one to be overly positive in defeat but I feel like we’ve got a base to build from now. We need the attacking players to up their game now and start chipping in week in, week out.
