‘ Dundee, Hibernian, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Ross County, St Johnstone and St Mirren will each take in £1.6m in solidarity payments due to Celtic's Champions League qualification, with Aberdeen and Dundee United receiving £1m and £650,000 going to Hearts and Livingston.’ - Daily Mail.
Isn't that more or close to what we would've earned last season for our European run?

How does that split of payments work?

Good question. It seems slightly bonkers/random.
Of course it's from the Daily Mail so could be b*llocks as well as bonkers.

"Hearts receive a lesser fee due to being involved in the Conference League group stage with Livingston not taking a higher bracket payment after relegation to the Scottish Championship.
Similarly, Aberdeen won't earn the full £1.6m having been in European group stage competition in 2023/24 with Dundee United earning £1m instead of £1.6 as they played in the Scottish Championship last season."

Are we making more money by not qualifying for Europe?

From the numbers it looks like you only lose out on part of the solidarity money if you qualify for one of the group stages (assuming you don't get relegated…). Even the minimum prize money for the groups would always outweigh the lost solidarity money.
If you were losing a million quid for playing a couple of qualifiers then it would be a different story.

Put it with the £1m we had for McCowan and offer it to Celtic for Kwon.
