Just felt he should get a thread of his own. Last few weeks must have been hard, not the league start he would have wanted and he’s not used to the pressure of being manager. His “I’ll sleep tonight” comment is very telling of the pressure he has felt. Who’d be a football manager!

Well done SDG I hope you had a lovely long Kip last night.. upwards and onwards. :agree:

Great shout.

Wins here and there change the narrative. Gray said as much pre match. We were close against Dundee and Killie but deserved our win yesterday.

We're heading in the right direction.

Still think he needs another assistant, Marvin Bartley would be a good addition, he did well at Livingston as a coach.

what’s obvious is that “The Narrative” is so much louder these days thanks to social media and places like this. If those two late goals against Dundee and Killi hit the post instead, we would be third in the league, having not even played that well. If SDG can get the team to Gel properly and we don’t get further injuries, it could be a good season.

Vital we got the win. Maybe not a bad thing we have another break when still building a team and getting folk settled in. Assume was a plan to get Newell op done with basically one game in 4 weeks or so. Possible he may be available for Ibrox if op was done after Killie game.

Yes galling the 4 points given away particularly when likely to be teams in and around us.

Well done David :aok: Getting the lead on HT was vital, we were desperate for something that first half was really poor going forward.

Anyway could see the goal relaxed us and we started playing some football second half, controlling the ball and areas of the pitch more like you would want from a Hibs side in a game like that was like night and day for me. Good options and good subs helped too.

When we are back at ER again in 3 weeks time expecting another improvement after more time to gel :flag:

Best manager we have had doing interviews since Jack Ross IMO . Gray comes across very well in interviews.

No doubt about that. I can actually listen to Gray without wincing.

He's got 3 assistants, how many do we need.

I'm not that bothered about his interviews or whatever.

The most important thing yesterday was he realised it wasn't working, identified the problem and we won with relative ease in the 2nd half. Kwon and Triantis were far too close in the 1st half, both wanted to sit and it totally stifled us. We also had Youan and Cadden playing far too deep even allowing for that system requiring the wide players to drop at times. 2nd half Kwon was far more advanced, that allowed Rudi and later Campbell to get involved right up top with support and Hoilett for Youan made a huge difference. The other subs were well timed and made vital contributions.

It was a manager positively influencing the game which was welcome, delighted to see it.

I had a chat with him at the Kiltwalk this morning. He is so level headed and there is very little difference, at least outwardly, whether we have won or not. That is a tricky thing to do but it appears very genuine to me.

Well done to SDG, Ian Gordon, Cadden 1, Rudi, Malky, Liam C and others for completing the walk today. It was a lovely morning and Joe N was on the start line too but couldn't walk due to the injury

I think the football hasn’t been great so far (in the league games, at least) but there has been improvement week to week, which is what we would want to see.
He’s been unlucky in that the team have lost late goals, which, if we’d hung on, would have put a completely different perspective on the season so far.

Aberdeen, by contrast, have managed to nick a few late goals when they’ve played really poorly, and they’re getting talked about as having the potential to split Rangers and Celtic, when really they’re some way off that despite Rangers looking very ordinary.

I’m happy with the job Gray is doing. I’d 100% rather have a performance like Saturday’s where we were murder for 45 minutes and pretty good for the next 45 and get the points, than control the ball endlessly in a borefest that we end up losing as was the case when St Johnstone last visited Easter Rd.

just said similar on the match thread about the late goals. 4 more points if not conceded and we would be sitting pretty and very content with the league start

Somebody told me Joe couldn't do it because he only goes sideways and backwards...

Still. Well done all.

I like him. He’s got a lot to fix, and it’ll take a while to completely right the mistakes of the last 2-3 seasons.

I think he’ll get there though. He’ll need a bit of patience.

I’m really pleased for him/the team/everyone that cares about Hibs
One win lifts the gloom and hopefully it’s the first of many.
Really like big Marv but he’s not a shout as a coach just because he has an affinity to the club.
Most teams have way too many people in the dugout imo
