Not quite for Boyle. 10 years in Jan since he first signed for us. He had the 8 months in Saudi. Technically he went back to Dundee after his initial loan.

I was meaning Darren. Martins service was broken so IMO shouldn’t be anywhere near a testimonial year unless he starts again.

I like big Daz a lot. He’s Hibs through and through. The more like him at the club the better.

Darren made a short video to my Dad shortly before he passed away to wish him all the best. It's great when players give that time and effort back to fans and communities.
I will always be grateful for that.

McGregor was 9 years, he came to Hibs in 2015 didn't he?

Did wonder this myself. Find it a bit odd a testimonial is being arranged here but then David Gray got one too.

Don't think it's an actual testimonial is it? I think it's a couple of events with a proportion of the money going to good causes.

It’s a testimonial year so would imagine a match will be announced eventually:

One of our own must be due one too then as he’s the longest serving player on the hibs
books .

Any opportunity to celebrate a good servant to the club while raising some money for worthy causes is okay by me. If the events are anything like those for Hanlon and Stevenson then they’ll be great nights.

Darren deserves it, as he clearly gives a s@&£.

As a Hibs fan of a few years, I wonder how many will deserve it in the coming years … how many will be the future Schaedlers, Brownlies, Stantons, Blackleys, O’Rourkes, Cropleys, Bremners, Duncans, Gordons, Edwards etc, who maybe played less time, but deserved it as they simply are still in our minds for what they did when they were wearing the shirt …

Nothing against Darren McGregor but I don’t think these events sit well with the majority of fans these days. I get they are raising money for charity but a fair percentage of it is going to DM. He must have made a good living playing professional football especially at Rangers and Hibs. He is also in full time work. I’m sure the events will be great nights but I’m not sure how well attended any match will be especially as it’s unlikely to be against a top team.

Simply don’t support it then. I didn’t with Ian Murray as (as was his right) he left for a big payday at Rangers. It’s not compulsory.

I dont think he would have made as much money as you might have expected. Rangers weren't paying huge wages back then and I know for sure when he first signed for Hibs he was on a very modest wage compared to what some first team players are getting now.

But a lot more than the average working man.

Uk median average is £34,963 he wasn't on much more at points. Football could easily be over at any point and he's 39 with no career to fall back on. Good thing is the tickets to all the events will be optional so we don't have to give up a penny if we don't want.

I'm spending loads on millionaires in oasis next year and it's my choice also

I get all your points etc. But I find it hard to believe that he was only taking home £539 after tax with Huns & Hibs based on the median average. He probably wasn't on much more than the average at the start of his career.

Was still at Cowdenbeath at 25 and only played for the Huns for one year. Wasn't a higher earner for us when he signed at 30. Played with us for 8 years after that coached for two and won the Scottish. Played every game with everything he had. People can choose to go to the events or choose not to, I think a few will.

At least Darren McGregor deserves it. Oasis you're in two groups. Those actually at Knebworth, and rich idiots chasing a shadow of that experience.

He was 30 when he signed for Hibs and was getting marginally higher than the average wage for a man of that age.

He only turned pro when he was 25 so will have been getting less than the average at the start of his football career for sure.

He was getting quite a bit more than an average wage at Hibs. Not insane money, but it was significantly higher than what your average working person gets.

He was on £800 a week when signed for Hibs. This was just above average for a man of his age in 2015.
