Did the commentator just say that Miller had picked up an injury?

I wonder if missing the World Cup has affected him in some way. Must be tough.

That No. 8 for Bahrain is as Cliff Pike would say "rolling around like he's dead"

Being subbed for poor play removes the fear of being subbed for an injury.:greengrin

Every time I watch Australia I end up losing the will to live.

They make Scotland look like 1970 Brazil.

Yet this is a key market for us and other Scottish clubs.

Bit of Brexit to thank for that! You will always get rank players regarding their nationality but got to think European duds still have some element of technique

Didn't see the game but makes you wonder why this seems to be a key market for us and Hearts. Was folk screaming for us to sign Josh Nisbet yet he can't even get in this poor team?

I think Boyles race has run. Other than his last minute derby equaliser last season I'm struggling to think of any highlights he's had since this return. I'm sure he will probably move on end of the season and the time feels right for both parties involved.

Subbed. awful.

His form continues then. Shouldn’t be in our starting 11. Impact sub with 25 mins to go is the way forward

Much cheapness.

It's one of the only areas that we can be competitive financially.

And we can be a stepping stone into European football for those with talent but who bigger clubs may not yet be prepared to take a risk on.

Awful performance by Australia.

71% possession but Bahrain happy to let them have the ball in the middle of the park where it doesn’t really matter…Australia just couldn’t and didn’t get the ball into the box enough.

Sounds very similar to Scotlands average performances against lower quality teams. Lots of possession but absolutely zero penetration or creativity

Pretty sure they're way above Scotland in the FIFA rankings tho.

Definitely remember them reaching the knockout stages of at least a couple of World Cups too.

My main memory of them tho was way back in the 80s and being allowed by our school teacher to watch the away leg of Scotland's play-off against them. I'm guessing it must have been for the 86 World Cup. 0-0 IIRC...

Other than the purple patch we had qualifying for the Euros I'd imagine Australians might say the same about watching us.

Subbed. awful.

That was my view too. He didn't look like he was particularly interested in being involved. Lost the ball all the time but mostly kept out of the way of the action. Very different to some of his previous apprearances where he was excellent

.

Conversely, possibly makes you wonder about Triantis not being considered good enough to get in the team too, when in his last club game against Kilmarnock he was clearly Hibs best player and earned rave reviews.

Does that say something about Hibs standard, or the more likely explanation that international managers frequently get team selection wrong, and to make a sweeping judgement on an individual player as a result of non international selection may not be the best way to judge their ability?

And I know you said you didn’t watch the match, but if you did you would have seen Nisbet on the bench.

You’re not Robinson Crusoe!

One of my mates fell asleep in the stand prior to kick off and slept through the entire encounter.

Another guy who made the 12 hour trip from Sydney with a few others in a van, was so drunk in the afternoon of the game that he went for a Kip in the back of the van…..unfortunately come kick off time they couldn’t rouse him and he spent the whole time the game was on sleeping just down the road from Olympic Park in the back of the van.

The things that went on that day right through to the next day I don’t think the Tartan Army would approve! 😂

Vaguely remember Aussies being on top and missing a few chances. Pretty sure there was a Rangers player played up front for Australia, David Mitchell?

Yes…Mitchell started his European career with Rangers, but was playing in the Bundesliega with Eintracht Frankfurt at the time of the Scotland game.

A few years later I recommended Davie to Hibs via a third party Hibs used to sound out players and this time Alex Miller actually tried to sign him from Chelsea for £30k.

Mitchell was all for the move and there was even a hint of the move in the Edinburgh Evening News at the time……..but it fell through….which is another story in itself.
