How confident are you that we'll have a successful 24/25 season? As previous, it's up to you to decide what you consider to be "success".

How confident are you that we'll have a successful 23/24 season? (hibs.net) (https://www.hibs.net/showthread.php?363938-How-confident-are-you-that-we-ll-have-a-successful-23-24-season&highlight=successful+season)

Success for this club should be top 4/5 with good cup runs.

Success this season would probably be top 6. Do I think we’ll get there? 50/50 right now.

Last season, I stated "New manager! We've some good players that just need utilised better. Midfield and defence still a concern, but I'm relatively confident."

I'm still optimistic, but think this season will be about building the foundations for the rebuild at the start of next season. Still concerned about the lack of creativity in the side, along with the lack of quality in the full back positions.

Can’t vote on my phone, but I’d say about 3/10. I’ve little confidence in anything going on at Hibs just now.

Voted 3/10. Not seen enough on the pitch and don't think we did enough work in the transfer market to be confident of anything other than mid-table mediocrity.

A successful season for me means top 4 and a European place. 5th or 6th is par for the course for a club that by any barometer is in the Top 5 biggest in scotland, and anything below 6th is clearly an unsuccessful season.

Winning a trophy trumps league position for me mind you, so if we finished 10th and won a league cup, then for me it's a successful season.

On the above basis, I have zero confidence in a successful season.

Success for Hibs each year is a European place and at least one cup semi final. Winning a cup is always possible but never likely.

There's little between the teams outwith the Ugly Sisters so no reason why we can't go on a good run to achieve that success (and equally possible we won't) so I'm at 6 just now.

Voted 5, still early in the season, so hopefully we will pick up and not falter!

I voted 1, simply because i dont think we will have a successful season, i dont see us top 4, and i dont see us winning a cup.

This season I don't really think is about a successful season it's a be patient until next season one so no I don't think it'll be successful.

1 at the minute sadly. We look very much in a relegation dog fight this season.

5, we really do need to win our next two home games v st johnstone/Motherwell with A to Sevco between those games, if we can't win those two home games it will drop to a four :(

I voted 7 and my reasons behind it is I think we have added good players to our squad who are just needing a bit of time getting their fitness levels up and to gel with their new teammates.

I think the break has actually come at a very good time for us in it will allow Gray and his staff to work with the players and get them to speed .

When we come back we should have players like Bowie 100% fit with ones returning like Youan and Hoilett who are important players that will make a difference… and it wouldn’t surprise me if we add another creative midfielder to the squad yet.

I think we will be in the mix for 4th or 5th which I would look on has a decent season after everything that’s gone on .

Success for me this season is battling to be top 6 ......and still having SDG as head coach at the end of the season. I'll wait for another couple of windows before hoping for more. I voted 8. I'm optimistic we'll sort ourselves out at the back and I'm as excited as others about our attacking options.

I’m not at all confident - very hopeful, but from what I’ve seen so far there’s not much evidence to suggest that we’re in for a successful season.

Hopefully the team will settle and we’ll have more tangible reasons for optimism.

So I would say I’m 9/10 hopeful of a good season and 2/10 confident of one.

I honestly don’t know. I like SDG. I think he will do well.

I think we also don’t see what’s going on behind the scenes and if both MM and SDG are allowed to get on with what’s on the pitch then we should do reasonably well. Still a lot of deadwood in the team though and think it might be next season at the very earliest before we can think about Europe.

For me a 'successful' season would normally constitute qualifying for Europe*, or even better winning a trophy, but I've decided to restrict it this time to:

-- Finishing in the top six
-- A decent run in the Cup
-- Winning a couple of games against Hearts

* I realise we mostly fail to meet that criteria but to me that just means that we are a club that consistently underachieves.

Depends entirely on how you define success.

By what I'd normally expect expectations to be for a well-run, ambitious Hibs spending at our current levels - absolutely not.

If we were to temper expectations to a reasonable level given the mitigating factors over the past few years - I think we'll do fine.

By that, I think we'll get top 6 and our Scottish Cup performance will depend on who we draw.

The forwards carry a big goal threat, the midfield will be improved but imperfect, the defence will settle and we'll improve anything that needs drastically improved in January. It won't be "we're going to piss third" but it should be a step in the right direction again.

I really have no idea. But yesterday was the first time I’ve felt like there is something to build on. It’s the first time in ages I’ve felt like the middle of the park functioned and we have more to come in the final third with Youan and Hoilett to come in plus a fully fit Bowie.

Don't know what success actually is these days!

For me, this season, a successful season will be comfortably making the top 6. We need to see progress, while accepting that we have 11 new players and a new manager to bed in.

I am therefore pretty confident we will have a (relatively) successful season.

next year I will expect us to be top 4 and a decent cup run, before I would consider it successful

I’m fairly certain something was posted recently that suggested the vast majority of teams in the league had a similar amount of incomings, so I’m not sure we can be using that as an excuse.

No idea still, for me in this league to be up there I'm a good position you need to put together a good run of results.

I'm middle of the road and voted 5. But like others have said I've had to temper my expectations on what is a successful season would look like. I think if we can hit top 6 and be within a sniff of the European places for majority of the season + potentially reaching Hampden in the Cup I would be happy with the turnaround enough to feel like we can build on it and try going for third next season in a stronger position. Finish bottom 6 again and it's just zero progress once again.

If you hit about 55 points then you’ll have probably had a decent season in this league.

3 runs of say 3 wins on the spin, which really shouldn’t be out the question, leaves you needing less than a point per game from the remaining 29 games.

It really shouldn’t be a big ask to hit the mid 50s imo.

I believe that we have signed players that will positively affect the first team. Seeing Bowie and Nicky Cadden as options off the bench was as good a bench as we've seen for a while.

We did previously sign too many players and not enough of them were going to trouble the first team. That is not on Gray or Malky. I trust that they are the men to steer us through this.

A successful season, for me, sees this team gel. It sees more players signed that improve the collective. More players moved on who's career hasn't flourished here.

If we get towards the end of the season in the top six, with Gray managing, and mathematically able to trouble 4th and 5th, I'd take that.

I think we're now on the right track. We perhaps just haven't been able to make enough positive changes quick enough to get us where we want to be.

Have to admit, since the league campaign has kicked off I'm much less confident than I was. I think we've been really poor and haven't been good at all to watch. Last season scoring wasn't an issue and we created plenty, in the league this year chances have been few and far between.

Having said that, I am looking forward to seeing Youan and Hoilett added into the mix, same goes for Iredale. I think Kwon, Triantis and Bowie are all good signings that'll improve us.

I'd like to think this is all part of the learning Process for Gray, after all, he's only been head coach for what, less than 10 competitive games. Lets see where we are after one round of fixtures.

I went middle of the road five. All the same issues of the last few seasons are there. I really want David gray to be a success, but I have a feeling he has been given the responsibility too soon.

In terms of what success is, the ultimate is third place or a cup win. More realistically Europe and a cup run or two plus some derby wins. However top six and a cup run this season would be a good outcome.

I’m hoping that once the new signings settle in that we will be better than last season

With Triantis and Kwon at 6 and 8 we will be harder to beat, it’s no coincidence that the centre backs and keeper looked far better yesterday with protection in front of them.

Whilst we may currently lack creativity I’m sure that issue will be addressed when Youan and Hoilett are fit to start, I’ve no doubt the midfield will be able to get the ball to them. We have added physicality which gets you further in this league than creativity ever will, just look at the hammer throwers at St Mirren and Killie for evidence of that

I’m quietly optimistic that we will do OK

I'm actually quite positive (7/10) - for me a successful season would be us finishing 4th with a good cup run and beating hearts at home twice!

the recent signings look good and I've been impressed with the way Gray has spoken - once our fire power click I think we'll see some quite dynamic performances and the uncertainty about style etc that some are highlighting now will actually be unfounded. we should really be 4 points better off, in which case I think folks answers would be a lot different. Aberdeen have made a great start but looking at the rest of the league there's nothing to be afraid of and can see us competing well for top 4. I actually think we have a great chance of taking points off the rangers this year too.

so top 4/5 and a decent cup run - for a transition season that for me will be successful (esp if we secure 4th)

Can’t vote but would vote 1. Defence is awful and we don’t have a top player like Maolida now. Will be 9th to 12th

For me success this season is re-establishing ourselves in the top 6 and a good Cup run.

If we can eradicate individual and collective defensive mistakes I thnk we have a squad capable of finishing 5th or 6th but not confident we have the quality to go higher.

That's success relative to the last few seasons but not success in terms of our finances, fanbase and facilities.

If we have more shots at goal and score plus stop shipping stupid goals at the other end.

Then maybe yes. I am confident :greengrin

Feel the international break came at the right time. I'm hoping for a better display on Saturday, especially now that we've Triantis and Kwon in midfield.

Boyd and Sutton not confident either, saying a lot of what most Hibs fans are saying.

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11792/13211838/scottish-premiership-2024-25-kris-boyd-and-chris-suttons-league-predictions

Kris Boyd thinks we'll finish 8th, saying "I just think the trends are still there, the excuses have already started about a lot of players being out of contract at the end of this season and they might be able to clear up the mess the hierarchy have created then. Short term they're going to suffer for that. I thought they would have improved but at this moment in time, I'm just not sure."

Chris Sutton thinks we'll finish 9th, saying "I like Hibs as a football club. They've had so much turmoil and gone through so many managers recently, there hasn't been that patience and now David Gray is in charge, who knows the club well. You can't just keep overhauling a squad, bringing in new players then changing a manager. I don't know whether there will be patience this season and Hibs fans will say a bottom-six finish represents a poor season, but they need to make small steps. It will be another difficult season for them."
