Lots of Scottish interest this season.
Liam Henderson doing well at Empoli in Seria A. Started with draws against Monza and Bologna and a win away to Roma and Liam has played every minute of all three games.
Josh Doig now playing in Seria B with Sassuolo. Also played every minute in two draws and a win.
Lewis Ferguson still injured and yet to play for Bologna, who have started with two draws and a defeat.
Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour just joined Napoli and yet to feature.
Che Adams played in first three games for Torino, one as a substitute. Two wins and one draw so far. Scored winner in a 2-1 win home to Europa League Champions Atalanta.

I was convinced Doig had signed for Roma or Lazio. Not sure if I imagined that entirely or if the the deal was just never finalised.

The Napoli game was absolutely first class viewing tonight.
An action packed, eventful last half hour, as good fun to watch as I’ve seen in yonks with a red card, outfield player in goal, big VAR penalty shouts and a comeback in injury time.
I’m also looking forward to seeing more of Napoli this season.
Hope the Scots do very well there.

Good article about Che Adams.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c0r857n877xo
Also mentions all the other Scottish players, copied below.
Adams, signed by Sheffield United from Ilkeston soon after that cup triumph, is part of the growing Scottish contingent in Italy, with Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour joining Napoli this summer.
Former Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson - who captained Empoli in their 2-1 Coppa Italia win at Torino on Tuesday, in which Adams scored - has played in the country for six years, while Lewis Ferguson is at Bologna and Josh Doig plays for Sassuolo, via Verona.

Good article regarding about Napoli. Very interesting some of the quotes, especially related to what we're seeing from our current Hibs team.
The manager's plan revolves around addressing three key areas. The first is the mentality, the 'Juventisation of Napoli' if you will.
"What I can promise is seriousness, a word that is often underestimated," he said. "Seriousness in giving everything for Napoli, in transmitting my culture at work, my mentality.” Conte is renowned for strengthening the mindset of a dressing room and it starts with instilling a serious atmosphere that demands professionalism, intensity and passion at all times. Napoli must return to working as a collective, a unit that fights for one another, covers ground and remains determined until the very end. By battling together, bonds are forged, and success is celebrated as a team.
The second area that had to be addressed is the defence. A great defence can only be achieved when the team works as a unit, defending from the top. Balance is a key word because Napoli haven’t been thrilling going forward.
Balance brings us nicely to the final point Conte must address to ensure success: tactical adaptability. Having started the season playing a 3-4-2-1 formation, Conte confessed the arrival of the two Scotsmen altered his thinking. Boasting great midfielders, the tactician needed a system that would exploit the virtues of his new arrivals and especially that of McTominay. Without the ball, Napoli play a 4-3-3 but in possession, they morph into a 4-2-3-1 or even a 4-2-4 with the ex-Manchester United midfielder often lining up alongside Lukaku at the very top.
All very interesting to read! How Conte and McTominay have revolutionised Napoli - BBC Sport (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/c2e772xvx37o)
On the subject of McTominay and Manchester United, there's a very interesting quote in the article. "I’d go to Manchester United to arrest all directors," said Paolo Di Canio to Il Mattino. How could a player so disciplined, determined and intelligent not be retained at all cost?
No further comment needed on the above!

Thanks for posting. I’ve been watching more of Napoli to see how McTominay and Gilmour have been doing. McTominay is ripping it up there. Gilmour hasn’t had quite so many minutes yet but when he’s playing, he’s been really good. He’s made for Italian football and in my opinion, is going to develop into a top, top footballer

I see McTominay scored again for Napoli as they beat Atalanta 3-2 away from home. Great result for Napoli, who are currently six points ahead of Inter Milan who have two games in hand. Atalanta have fallen away in recent weeks, but are still third seven points behind Napoli. Looks like it will be either Napoli or Inter Milan as champions this season. If Napoli wins it this year then Conte has won titles with Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Napoli.
Good to see Lewis Ferguson back playing well for Bologna, who are currently 6th in the league. Che Adam is playing right now for Torino.

Selling McTominay on the cheap, just shows everything that is wrong with Man Utd. It stopped being a football club a long time ago. What a weekend in Italian Football!
Both Inter Milan and Napoli drawing at the weekend with the latter still one point ahead with only one game to go. Inter Milan conceded a second equaliser in the 88th minute to Lazio, with both managers Simeone Inzaghi and Marco Baronu sent off. At Parma, both managers (Napoli's Conte and his Parma counterpart Christian Chivu) were shown red cards for remonstrations on the touchline. In injury time, Napoli had a penalty overturned by VAR and Inter Milan had a goal disallowed due to offside.
Napoli's final match is at home to Cagliari, while Inter are at Como. It's Napoli's title to lose!
Empoli won 3-1 at Monza to keep their hopes of beating the drop alive, with Liam Henderson subbed at half time with Empoli traling 1-0. Emploi scored three second-half goals and sit joint-18th going into their final match at home to Verona, who are three points ahead of them.
Lewis Ferguson's Bologna, four days after winning the Coppa Italia, went down 3-2 to Fiorentina which means they cannot now qualify for the Champions League.

It was absolutely bonkers, I had both games on multi screen and it was so hard to keep up with everything. On top of that, Napoli hit the woodwork 3 times, including a McTominay free kick that the keeper pulled off a worldie to tip onto the bar.
I had Napoli at 8/1 start of the season for the scudetto, tempted to cash out as honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they blow it on the last day whilst Inter grind out a win at Cesc Fabregas’ Como.
I also had Inter at 16/1 for the UCL, think I’ll try to stay the course for that one…

Might have to try and get over for a couple of days next week if they manage to finish the job.
As has been said though, both the top two have been pretty flaky in the last couple of months. Anything could happen on the final day
IF Napoli can get the job done next weekend, it will be some season for Scots over there, with McTominay, Gilmour & Ferguson winning trophies. We should be proud of the impact they have had, more Scots should test themselves abroad rather than go to the OF or England.

If Napoli lose and Inter draw is it true that they would have a play off as goal difference does not apply for the final game of the season ?

pretty sure if they both finish on same points, then they gotta do a 1 off playoff to decide the champs.
Goal difference only dictates which of the sides gets to host that match ( currently Inter got the better GD ).

Is that not only if the h2h record between the 2 is identical? Thought that was the primary decider in Italy not GD?

Yes. Head to head is the primary decider, but they drew both games by the same score, so it goes to a playoff at a neutral venue.

Sad to see my Italian team Sampdoria languishing in Serie B. Had a soft spot for them ever since Lombardo played for them in the Football Italia Channel 4 days. Simpler time.
They've now been relegated to Serie C. Horrible time for them.

Isn't that still in doubt? One of the teams above them might have a points deduction, which would keep Sampa up.

Liam Henderson started for Empoli tonight. It’s 1-1 at half time in their home match against Verona, and with Parma 2-0 down at Atalanta and only a point ahead, it means as things stand, a win for Empoli will save them from the drop.

I mean, someone other than Man City winning it for the first time in 5 years is an improvement surely? You also had teams like forest up there and fighting for a champions league spot for the majority of the season.
The English league is far from ideal, and I don't watch much of it myself, but I'd argue that it's more competitive than Spain, Germany (apart from last season with leverkusan) or France.
I agree that Serie A is excellent though.

Yeah I get the whole thing with a couple of the mid tables teams improving. But I more mean that on the last day of the season multiple teams could still win the league and be relegated. Whereas in England this has been done for ages. Made the last part feel like a bit of a dead rubber apart from for the European chasing teams.
There's also such a huge gap where it's very likely that the teams come up just get sent straight back down. Not the case in Italy. I do think Sunderland could stay up for to the cheer size of the club but will still be difficult.
