Don't know anything about the guy. A lot of negative comments posted on the transfer thread. But they seem to be largely from Bolton fans frothing on twitter. A look at the Bolton Fans' Forum from last night is largely positive ("Sorry to see him go" etc). So maybe decent defensive cover at least.

I’ve made the mistake of looking at Hibs content on X before and i quickly concluded that the site of full of muppets. This place can be a bit negative at times but X is just toxic.
I’d imagine their forums are a more accurate assessment.

Horrible comments on the clubs socials too. Our support is becoming more toxic by the day. Good to see another centre half come in and I hope he does well, but it won’t help him that some of our ‘supporters’ have written him off before he kicks a baw because of their agenda against the club.

Actually glad we made the signing. A left-footed CB that can cover at LB is exactly what we needed. Plenty experience and playing time as well.
Wonder if this means the start of 3-5-2 for us.

He was held in high regard by the Cambridge fans, who felt he'd earned a chance at a bigger club in Bolton.
I'm not happy with all things Hibs right now but I'll be writing off a new arrival only after he's had a chance to properly prove he's pish - like everyone else, he deserves a chance.

Not sure why anyone would see him as a good signing based on everything we know.

He covers both left back and left centre back
Which isn’t much good if he is injured more often than not and if he is, well, single fish.
Benny Brazil could cover several positions.
Tortolano could play left back, left wing back and left wing and sometimes they brought him right into midfield.
With the right driver my Dacia Sandero might match a Lamborghini over the first 50 yards.
I’m not saying he will be bad. But his stats suggest he will be, if he even plays much. For every David Gray there are at least 2 Jamie Mcquilken.

I don't understand people who slate players before they've been seen in a Hibs shirt. It is acceptable (not that it's for me to say) to discuss a player's previous performances or reputation on social media, but some of the comments on instagram about some of our players have just been woeful.
For the record, I'm no football expert, but here are some players we signed who I got properly excited about;
Jonatan Johansson
Shefki Kuqui
Fabian Yantorno
That guy from Bolton who had been a wunderkid and didn't do too much for us, but scored in a derby (can't remember his name)
Players I wasn't excited about at all;
David Gray
David Murphy
Russell Latapy
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that so many players that are at SPL level can be totally different players based on confidence, management or even just fate.
I hope the lad does well for us. I always hope they all do.

Tackled on the goal line against Rangers?
Abiding memory of him was Yogi's last game, and he wouldn't even put him on the pitch 2-0 down at St. Johnstone.
Don't do very well with flagship Dutch signings. Hibs could've made Bergkamp a disappointment.

Scored two on his home debut v Maribor.
Then proceeded to do the following:
Missed an open goal v Rangers (was 0-0 at the time, finished 0-3)
Missed an open goal v Inverness from a penalty rebound (was 1-0 at the time, finished 1-1)
Missed an open goal v Kilmarnock (was 1-1 at the time, lost 1-3)
One of our most disappointing recent signings imo.

Vela was a great prospect when he initially came through at Bolton, but unfortunately a combination of believing his own press and enjoying the social side a bit too much meant Hibs was his last chance really.
He’s since played against Bolton a couple of times for Shrewsbury and Fleetwood and strikes me as quite bitter really. Always good for a booking in those games as he just tries to kick anything and anyone.

He played more than 7 games surely? Either that or it was only 7 but I went to them all and it just seemed like more.
Liked slapping team mates on the arse by way of encouragement but his habit of seemingly pouring concrete into his boots and hiding behind his centre half really didn't help his career here.

[QUOTE=wookie70;7849226]Very difficult to separate him and Cads2 for MOTM. Together they are more than the sum of their parts. Both good individually but together they have been even better.
The effort he showed after being spun to get in and block the cross lifts his teammates. I really like how we are celebrating the good defending and there has been plenty in the last few games[/QUOTE
Same here, love the passion we showed today keeping out the poppy thieves

Not seen it back but his brilliant block in the 93rd minute appeared to stop a certain equaliser from Shankland.

You could see what it meant to him as well. As good as a goal scored.

He’s not convinced me at times but today was his best game for us by a mile IMO. Never going to try and be anything he isn’t.

Really! You must be hard to please!
He's been really impressive in the last few games now that he's settled into the team.

Don't actually think he has had a bad game since he came to the club, maybe his first couple of appearances weren't spectacular but nothing to suggest he would be a bad signing

I think he’s looked far better over the last couple of games and I’d have him second only to Nicky Cadden yesterday. But if I think back to when he came on at Dundee and the games at home to Aberdeen and Ross County I thought there were spells where were all over the place defensively. So no, he hasn’t convinced me all the time but happy with the improvement I’ve seen in the last couple of games from him.

Loved his attitude yesterday which along with Rocky and Nicky Cadden has been a huge difference recently

Brilliant game at Tynecastle and showed the passion you absolutely want to see in a derby.
