Passed away at 82. Anyone see him play?

Great pic of him scoring on his Hibs debut at Tynecastle:

Remember him clearly as a match reporter on the tellybox. Always seemed like a good egg, as in the David Francey mould. RIP

Likewise.

Went looking for dates and was surprised he was in the first Dr Finlay as an actor. Quit football in 1964. Stopped presenting in 1983 according to the Beeb. That dates us!

Scored a ton of goals for the reserves, IIRC was signed from the charity thieves.

Me too. I didn't realise he was an ex-player, let alone for us.

Yes I was at the game. Memory is that he picked up the ball about 30 yards from goal, ran on and smacked it in. I’ll take a risk and say it was an equaliser but we lost to a good Hearts team. We were in a state of flux and Joe had just left so we weren’t too cheerful.

The Tornadoes strip wins out as my all-time favourite but that 60s kit is cracking too.

Just checked the records and I remember my first visit to Tynecastle as a 9 year old in a game Hibs lost 4-2.
So I would have been in the crowd.

Mind him on Dr Finlay’s Casebook too!

I remember him reporting on football on TV. Just seemed to have disappeared from public life totally
