Early days of course, but I have to say I like the look of O'Hora. Good in the air and very comfortable on the ball. Some unreal skills on the halfway line in the second half today at one point too.

Less convinced about big Marv so far, he had a ropey spell in the first half today for sure, but then was ok second half. Early days though as I said.

Who got MOTM? didn't notice in the stadium, but the quick feet skills on the halfway line alone was enough for the award.

Thought he did well today as well. Pleased for him

They didn’t announce one in the stadium.

Or if they did I wasn’t listening!

:agree: Up there with Miller and Rudi as our three best players today.

I agree re WOH, solid today.

Think best that we can say on Marv is that he improved in the 2nd half. Very poor for both goals but hopefully he’ll adjust. In both games he’s wanted too much time and his positioning has been questionable. Crazy how much he backed off Kyogo for the opener. But he didn’t hide and he got better

He has a bright future at this club. A real shame he’ll be playing next to some absolute numpties thanks to our esteemed recruiters.

Found it strange most of our balls forward from the back 2 came from Marv when O’Hora is clearly the more talented with the ball at his feet.

Thought Marv panicked a bit at times but that could also be due to the players infront not giving him enough options

Don't think they did.

Russell Latapy always used to get it even if he wasn't best, so it was probably him.

:agree: Just read a tweet from Marvin Bartley slating the other Marvin for that first goal and not being goal side of Kyogo. Was pretty bonkers defending.

Like the look of big wazza.

Telling signs when he showed some lovely feet when getting closed down by 3 Celtic players, before picking a pass to Newell who just panicked and punted it back to Bursik.

O’Hora looked solid again, composed and calm. Did Kyogo (I think) up like a kipper in the first half where he feinted a clearance and watched kyogo fly past as he kept the ball and played it into midfield. Think he’ll be an astute signing.

He looks good, one of those players who seem to have a little bit more time on the ball, almost effortless.

Think he and Marv would be even better in a back three. Good early signs with O’Hora though.

Looked really good in the League Cup, terrible for 2 of the goals last week but much better today thankfully. I'd like to see him in a back 3 as well but not on the left.

I think Marv looks a really good defender but just not comfortable on the ball

Think a back 3 would suit him perfectly if he stayed central and never had to drift wide or split to receive the ball

Kyogo was cutting off the pass to O’Hora every time it seemed on so Bursik had no option but to pass to Ekpiteta. They knew he was the weak link on the ball.

It’s strange saying this given how poor we were as a team but I thought O’Hora was excellent today. Really good. That’s the first time I’ve seen him but he was very good in the air (best header of the ball in some time), his marking was good and he got tight and physical (despite innumerable runners being let go by our midfield), ball use was good.

More than that though he was telling everyone else what to do. Looks a natural leader and our only one on today’s showing.

I would like to see Rocky alongside him and see how they get along. We missed his speed and strength today and I think O’Hora might help his development and complement his attributes.

Another who got pass marks for me today was Lewis Miller (he got stuck in when everyone else was standing off). Again with the right coaching/management that could get him a bit more focused he’s got all the attributes to be a very good full back for us.

Hope you are right, but It was pretty worrying defending for the first goal from Marv, being the wrong side of Kyogo - bizarre stuff.

Agree with every word. Also noticed when Newell was mic'd up pre season that O'Hora seemed a very good communicator.

I’m willing to put his first half down to a “WTF am I playing against “

I think Kyogo’s movement is really clever all the time, for that goal he sucked Marv in and then used his pace to spin in behind.

Actually think Marv done well to get back goalside and slow him down.

But I think overall his aerial ability and one on one defending is good

I’m not keen on a back 3. Centre halves are generally the poorest footballers (unless you have a majestic sweeper like Franck) and you limit yourself with 3 and wide play suffers.

Saying that I recognise that best two teams in my lifetime have played 3-5-2 but both had dynamic 10s in the form of Latapy and Scott Allan. We certainly don’t have that at the moment and probably need good wide forwards to create and score chances.

I think O’Hora and Rocky are good enough to play in a two and Miller, when focused, is a strong full-back. If we sort midfield then I think our back 4 should be good enough to get us well up the league.

Big Marv got back goal side for the goal but then just backed off thinking the hard work or danger was over. By the time Kyogo set himself and Marv realised he’d gave far too much time it was too late. Shot away.

Shaky start for him imo
